It is actually pretty good. I'm not exactly watching it weekly or in a state of near death if I miss it for too long, but if it happens to be on and I come across it, I'm happy to stop the channel-flipping and let it entertain me for an hour or so.

Watching "The Cafe".

One of those BBC shows on PBS. Nice little show. Billed as a "gentle comedy". Everybody says "Laters!!" when they leave.

Earlier today I watched the 2nd half of "Snake Eater". A truly horrible 1989 film starring Lorenzo Lamas. Some of the worst dialogue & acting I've ever seen.

From IMDb:

Quote Lorenzo Lamas stars as Jack `Solider` Kelly an ex-vietnam vet and a renegade cop who goes on a search and destroy mission to save his sister from backwoods rednecks. Atrocious movie is so cheaply made and so bad that Ron Palillo is third billed, and yet has 3 minutes of screen time, and even those aren't any good. Overall a terrible movie, but the scenes with Lorenzo Lamas and Josie Bell hanging from a tree bagged and gagged are worth a few (unintentional) laughs. Followed by an improved sequel.

Words can't simply describe how awful this film is. I watched it on video last night, and I simply could not believe what I was seeing. Basically, "Snakeeater" is about an ex-military man (Lorenzo Lamas) and his search for his kidnapped sister who has been held captive by Deliverance-style Rednecks. The film's acting, writing, direction, photography, and editing are deplorable along with a song called "Soldier" that has to be one of the worst theme songs of all time!

However, there is one treat. "Horshack" (Ron Pallio) from "Welcome Back Carter" is in the film playing a laughable bad guy. Otherwise, please avoid this mess at ALL COSTS.

Brit shows are all BBC afaic .

I don't make the distinction.

Fargo, the TV show, not the movie.
Not really into it, not sure I want to get involved.

Last of the Summer Wine.

For the 2nd time tonight. They do late rebroadcasts of the Sat nite Britcoms on this channel.

Probably go to bed before it's over.

12:35 am here.

I tried to watch it, once.
Couldn't - just couldn't.
Beside the TV-version being over-acted, it that was just one story better left alone.

Primal Grill with Steven Raichlen.

Nothing worse than watching someone grilling ribs, then chowing down on big hunks of the tender, juicy, perfectly charred meat while you're hungry & have nothing good to eat in the house.

OuchThat is exactly why I was 'raised from the dead', this A.M...'lazybutt' doesn't want to go get it for us and she thinks the sunny weather is *perfect* for my morning bike ride (she fails to understand t isn't even 40F outside).
So I made her maple/brown sugar instant oatmeal (just add water), which went over like a lead balloon (we have it a little too often).
Getting ready to go out and suffer, soon - after I get bored with 'Chinatown'.

We just hit the store this morning, she had a pancake, my current ritual is 2 eggs scrambled and wheat toast, milk.
I can't complain but sometimes I still do.

HLN , formerly Headline News plays alot of the old, the original Forensic Files programs.
Many copy cat shows have come since.
The news is on in 16 minutes, what is a short attention span to do.
The thing I hate about HLN, Nancy Grace.
I can't complain but sometimes I still do.

Earlier today I watched one of my favorite movies from the mid 60's, called "What A Way To Go!". It starred Shirley MacLaine, Dean Martin, Paul Newman, Robert Mitchum, Gene Kelly & Dick Van Dyke.

It was the story of a very wealthy widow who was sent to see a psychiatrist because she tried to voluntarily give a huge sum to the IRS. While on the psychiatrist's couch she told the story of how she became so wealthy.

It began when her money-obsessed mother tried to force her into marrying the town's rich, obnoxious but very eligible bachelor, played by Dean Martin, whose family owned a big dept store & who the town was named after. But she hated him because he was a jerk & because she wanted a nice guy, true love & a simple life. She fell for the town dufus, played by Dick Van Dyke, who also owned a store, but a small, crappy one. They got married & were happy together, until one day when Martin's character came by & rubbed his wealth in Van Dyke's face which caused him to become determined to become successful too, which he did to the point that he financially ruined Martin's character, then dropped dead of a stress-related heart attack & left her everything.

Next, she meets Paul Newman in Paris, who plays a poor, Bohemian artist who becomes rich & famous after marrying her, then dies a goofy death, leaving her everything, Robert Mitchum who plays a wealthy business tycoon who gives up his business empire for her & dies a strange death & leaves her everything & Gene Kelly who plays a poor restaurant lounge singer/dancer who also becomes rich & famous after marrying her then meets a goofy demise & leaves her all his money. But at the end, it comes full circle & she finds the simple, happy life with the man her first husband ruined & who she had originally hated.

It's a fun movie that, in certain parts, very humorously parodies & lampoons Hollywood & the art, entertainment & fashion world, in a manner similar to a Mel Brooks movie.

If you haven't seen it & happen across it on TV some day, check it out.

You'll really thank me after you see a young Shirley MacLaine in some of the skimpy (& absurd) outfits they dressed her in.

They do these little vignettes that are reminiscent of those things Mel Brooks later on often did in his movies. Sort of like "lost in imagination" sequences that as I said, parody & lampoon the art, entetainment & high fashion world.

A really fun movie to watch.

BTW, the entire movie is on YouTube.

waiting on this video to load at 1080p. Probably giving up at a bit.

Cutscenes from the PS2 game, Final Fantasy XII, possibly one of the most beautiful and immersive video games I've played (not that there've been many). I know Square Enix does this a lot, but it constantly fascinates me to see how wonderfully complex yet totally natural a world they've managed to make. And of course their beautiful animation.

Only fault I find is the English dub, and only because they go through the painstaking process of animating their characters to the vocal-acting, rather than open-close-open-close, but all that work just goes to waste when it'd dubbed over in English and you end up with something that looks out-of-sync and odd.

Jimbo, there's an anime out called "Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt". It's about a bunch of angels being punished by being sent to earth and they end up sex-crazed (One has the goal to sleep with 1000 humans before going back to heaven)

Suprisingly no where near as porny as it sounds, but it's still one of those utterly hilarious things you'd only see out of Japan.

Sadly, the closest Square Enix gets to porn is the typical cleavage-enhancing costumes and higher-than high miniskirts.

Well, somebody needs to start producing some really high quality computer animated porn.

Although, I'm not really sure what you could get animated porn actors to do that you couldn't get real ones to do.

Maybe put them having sex in extremely dangerous settings.

Like underwater in the middle of a shark-infested feeding frenzy.

Or on the wing of a jetliner flying at 10,000 feet.

Or two gay guys doing anal in the back row of pews in one of those "God hates fags" churches during Christmas services.

Shocked

I thought it was the best ending.

There's a special that probably won't be aired stateside, but it's Victor and Magaret in hospital visitng someone, he's on one of his usual rants, and...well, let me just get it.

I read where they did a special where Victor had magically "returned" from the dead.

Funny the way that clip was written so that you don't notice that Margaret doesn't even know Victor is there & you're lead to think that, as usual, she's just ignoring him, when in fact, Victor is still dead & is just there in spirit, which isn't revealed until the end.

Pretty clever.

I don't know why these Brit shows always have to kill off their characters when they either leave the show or when it ends.

Apparently they want to make sure there is no possibility of a return.

I saw no reason to kill Victor, though.

Same with Assumpta on Ballykissangel.

Why couldn't they just let them leave together & be happy?????? Cry
