WinkHappy belated whatever holiday to all my fellow Fagen/Becker/Steely Dan friends...hint: if you head out to the end, oh...about 41 minutes in, you get into the 'NY Broadway Review'-style of Fagen. REALLY GREAT jazz!

Yea...it wasn't broken out, so you get to skip around in it - as I said, for DanFans - but the live jazz piece at 41 minutes in (you can skip right to it) is worth the listen! A Mancini piece, I think.

OK, I listened to it from just before 41:00 to the end.

Very nice.

Dead...right about now, I'm feeling pretty much like the male-version of 'Barbara Lewis Hari Krishna Beauregard'.

Confused...for some stinkin' reason this song from a late favorite has been rattling in my head since I woke up this A.M. and I cannot figure out why...it is killing me...

From the new Ayreon album. The video is neat cause it shows what was on Arjen Lucassen's mind when he wrote and recorded it, why he cast certain singers, etc.

LOL  Why not? Rick Neilsen is 69 years old...and parts of this great mess are perfect for those late-night high-speed moments.

LOL...and NR brings back old hangovers....
~~~~
'Wanna-Be-A-Rockstar, Mommy!' songs from 'Wanna-Be-Next-The-Next-A.M./SweetSixteen-RockSuperGroup, Daddy!'
~~~~
UFO and Blue Oyster Cult performed at some of the sh*ttier, kiddier venues (especially 'bad acoustic' locations) as opening acts toward the end of my Euro days. The earaches and headaches drove many to find pain relief through drug & alcohol abuse, but every now and then, a 'keeper' would appear - and I recall early versions of this (although I would never buy the albumWink)
How many people are familiar with how this song alone made all the famous 'cowbell' take-offs, the 'More Cowbell!' drives, and even spawned an SNL skit?Big smile
Sooooooo...when the move was made from Heidelberg to El Paso (yea, it was like moving to the moon), we started hearing the American Kiddie Kuntry Korner flavors in places with very bad acoustics...such as this gem, which actually made me turn around and pay attention to some country rock a lot more:
Wink
...but then again, catchy as either tune was on either side of the pond at precisely the same time, they were destined to remain nothing more than 'katchy kiddie tunes' to me - too simple, too commercial, too much 'fill the time with noise'.
I never bought the albums or the shirts, and you couldn't discuss them with me...

SmileBut TONIGHT, in PawLand, the idiot box has the Astros-Yankees while the Pixies are in the background with 'Here Comes Your Man' (from 'Doolittle' (1986)), which Citibank just used in a pretty cool little 15 second commercial...

I remember when that Blue Oyster Cult album came out, the radio was advertising it using the Reaper guitar solo.  Made me buy the album.
