More stupid dancing! And the fact Vascepa disabled playback on other websites for the YouTube video and disabled likes and comments! They must dislike criticism.

Why use such a teeny bopper song in a commercial with all older people?  Just doesn't fit.  Most people that age are children of the 60s and 70s and would relate more to Janis Joplin or Creedence, not the stupid Go Gos.

I can tell you my theory on why they used that particular song.

Whether it's correct or not is anyone's guess.

1) The medicine is for your heart. Your heart beats. Hence "We Got The Beat". (I'm sure you got that, btw.)

2) It's upbeat and catchy.

3) Most of us older farts were still in our 20's and 30's during the 80's when the Go Go's were popular, so we do relate to a degree.

4) They could have used some other song that emphasized "the beat" like Sonny and Cher's "The Beat Goes On", but it had a more serious, somber tone to it, so they probably opted for the more recent and more upbeat song.

Hey, if they can use the Buzzcocks (years ago) for an AARP commercial, they can use the Go Gos for a heart medication ad.

But I didn't think about the "beat" angle before. Good observation.

At work. Walmart radio often plays the GoGos version of Our Lips Are Sealed. I always take the opportunity to tell the same co-workers this same thing:

I say "Back when I was young and this song was popular, there was a joke that went...
Why can't the GoGos have babies?
Because their lips are sealed!

...but now, it's probably because they're post-menopausal."

It always gets a groan/laugh.

1)  Duh.  Yeah, I got it.
2)  It sounds like a song a 12 or 13 year old would like.

I hate teeny bopper sh*t.

In the 80's they were considered more new wave than teeny bopper.

I kinda liked them, though not as much as The Bangles.

Here's a "beat" related song you might find less "teeny bopper" but you might not appreciate the inference of the lyrics....

The beat of love is a nasty one
It's a flame from the devils fire
'cause nothing is stronger than boys and their eyes
And it's worse when you know he's a liar
It's just the beat of love

The beat of love is a nasty one
They promise you heaven they promise you fun then the
Next thing you know you are down on the floor
And you think you're in love
Oh heaven above
It's just the beat of love

You take my mind and you cheat it
You take my body and heat it
Then you take my heart and you beat it
And the beat of love goes on

It's just the beat of love

The beat of love is a nasty one
People bang on the door to get in
Then one they're inside they just want to be free
And they bang at the doors with a beat they can't see
It's the beat of love

It's just the beat of love

The beat of love is a nasty one
There are all kinds of ways to get banged
They'll tell you is violence they'll tell you it's sex
They'll tell you that it's all the same

The beat of love is a nasty one
There all kinds of ways to go down
She slams her hips and then she slams the door
And then wonders why he's not around

Love is a life nerve
A mission
A principle
The grand passion
Temptation

It's just the beat of love

I knew a guy like that once.  Can't think of anything nice to say about that, so I'll just shut up.

The laziest trick in the ad book is to co-opt an established, pre-CREATED song and attempt to make it 'apply' to bloody stools or WHATEVER horrid medical situation us diseased humans are facing-shame!!

& to have morons or RuPaul DAHNCE to it

"The Beat Goes On" is way too slow to be compatible with the lame dancing that is de rigueur these days.
