We all know that a Geico commercial goes like this...

blah blah blah blah...save 15% or more on Geico...blah blah blah...dumb-ass humor the end!

I saw a few like the cuckoo clock, the damn gecko, and storybook Geico commercials...there's sooooo damn many let's just have it all lumped into one!

In the Caesar's ad mouseprint:

"New customers report saving an average of $whatever."

This figure only includes those who "saved".
There is a separate number for those who didn't save (which is of course, most people).

In other words, you're on one list of the other.
They are ONLY telling you about one of the lists.

But if you "saved", then of course the average amount "saved" is impressive because the only way you "save" is by dropping kids off your insurance, raising your deductible, and/or lowering your policy limits.

In short:  ONE BIG FAT JUICY LIE.
But one that is well-crafted to be technically "true", as long as you don't ask about the other list.

It's a case of "paid less" does not equal "savings".
But most people are too stupid to realize that, so the tripe continues.....

For the most part...GEICO is just a nothing commercial that only mentions saving 15% or more on insurance for like...5 seconds and 25 seconds of it is humorless sh*t!

I HATE this bitch! I can't stand smartphoners, especially smug ones like her.

I wish Geico as a whole would die a slow, painful, horrifying death. I wouldn't use them as my insurance company if they only charged a $1 a year for full auto coverage, because of their rotten, annoying, undignified, simple minded commercials thought up by drug-laced, alcoholic minds.

Also, your car would NOT crank that much if you had a dead or weak battery. You'd be lucky if you'd get some clicking sounds from all the relays trying to power up your vehicle.

I was unfortunate enough to spend a few minutes in my truck today, Geico has a radio commercial about a stolen bicycle that's speaking to it's former owner.  I hate Geico!

And this..."The following ad is being condenced for your viewing convenience."

It's a Goddamned good thing they didn't say..."The following ad is being condenced for your viewing pleasure."  Pleasure?
When I see or hear a Geico commercial, I feel the opposite of pleasure.

I see no reason for a sequel other than the cash cow of merchandising! And boy, there is a LOT of merchandising! Unfortunately I've fallen for it too. I just had to get a bright green car called "Quicksand" from the Hot Wheels series.

I had to get it for the color nothing else. Bright green has been one of my favorite colors ever since I saw it on that 1971 Charger with the cool stripe in the original Gone In 60 Seconds back in early 2001. I now have a 1/64 replica of that car today!

I'm also gonna make it my mission to get the Milano 1/64 diecast model not because of the movie. But because of the color and design. I saw the original movie back in 2014 it was a fantastic movie, but I wouldn't put it to my top 10.

For those of us in Hurricane Irma recovery-mode, there's a new reason to hate GEICO.

They are running ads on TV and radio encouraging their policyholders to file their claims early.
(Not that anyone will actually get paid early.)

What Geico is really doing is apply a thin veneer of "Hey, you should really switch to Geico for the next disaster because obviously we're on top of things if we're running these commercials."

Of course, the ads don't actually provide any useful information.
"Use our app, or go online..."

Yeah...., if we could do that, we probably wouldn't need your check!
No electricity, web glacially slow if it works at all, neighborhoods still submerged, and no matter what or when a claim is filed, it'll be months before Geico doles out the tittynope / pittance your untrained, newly-hired "expert" thinks is actually due in damages.

I love it when they say "We're here to help you in this time of need."
Really?  "Grab that fence post over there!"  Angry

I can't stand that stupid Sloth ad. Or the Triangle Solo. Or this space travel ad. I hate 99% of Geico commercials because they make no sense and have NOTHING to do with car insurance...whatsoever!
Seriously, Geico. WHAT'S YOUR RATES? POLICIES? What does '15% or more' actually mean? They don't tell you, because they throw 27 seconds worth of bulls--t into a commercial and in the last few seconds,
'15 minutes could save you 15 or more,' or...
'how much (insert name here) saved by switching to Geico'.
So glad they won't be my insurance company...ever! AngryAngryDead

More BS from one of America's worst insurance companies. George Washington makes no sense, nor does the penguins and the Gecko conference call. They'll come up with 20 more idiotic ads before 2019. Keep wasting that $$$ on your ad budget!

The way the kid says "What's 'come at me, bro?'" perfectly, pausing and dropping before 'bro,' tells me he knows exactly what it means.

This ad is offensive in so many ways.
Wasn't George Washington from Virginia? He was said to have been very classy and dignified, yet not regal. He was definitely not like the loud mouthed twat shown on this ad!
The Geico ad agency takes too many liberties, but trashing the very first president, let alone a masterful general from the American Revolution.
Shame on them. I would never take a policy with such a disrespectful company. If they trash a great man like George Washington, what do you think their opinion of regular work a day people like us is?

Disrespectful on so many levels:

First, why can't whitey paddle the boat?  Ouch

And as for the "Betsy Ross" flag, it's first recorded use was in 1792, while Gee-W's famous crossing of the Delaware occurred over Christmas 1776 (some 16 years earlier!)

Of course, these are they same asshats that claim fifteen minutes can "save" you 15% or more on car insurance.  So, their math is suspect from the start, ...and this simply proves it.

I posted a link for this back on the first page of this thread.  Who do these idiots at Geico think they are?

God's gift to TV marketing? I think, and I have always said, they should use all of this money they spend on their goddamned commercials and give their customers better rates, instead of annoying me 24/7.

God, I hate them!

Yes, that sumo wrestler s--t has come back. Hated it when it aired last year, hate it still!
But to make it even, the 'Running of the Bulldogs' has come back. I didn't mind that commercial last year, thought it was kind of cute.

GEICO must have read my post about how I abhor their invasion of the Jeopardy TV show.
Now they're mixing it up by putting their annoying ads in-between the first and second rounds, instead of just prior to the Final Jeopardy question.

Can too much exposure be a bad thing?

In GEICO's case..... Yes!!   AngryAngryAngryAngry

I think the George Washington in the ad is a reenactor not the actual George Washington.

He's doing a piss poor job as Washington too!

If they can't prove their savings then false advertising charges should be files against them with the FTC. And don't allow them to use the excuse that the truth is in their unreadable fine print. There are now laws that cover that.
Exactly, there is WAY TOO MUCH false advertising going on out there.  Example:  Liberty Mutual has the hand talking DB talking about 'New Car Replacement'. In the same commercial the guy says "You could save $782 on home and auto if you switch.

How can that be? That 'new car replacement' is bound to cost a pretty penny.  And they all say that they can save everyone money. It's complete bullsh!t.  Speaking of BULLsh*t. The worst offender of all time.

Did I ever mention how much I hate them? AngryAngryAngryAngry

I actually researched this.
When you switch, you either pay more, or you pay less than you did with the prior company.
If you paid more, then you go in Bucket-A.
If you paid less, then you go in Bucket-B.
It does not matter what you bought.

So, when you hear a statement such as:
"People who switched saved an average of $609 on their car insurance."

Here's what it means (and it's all technically true):

1.  Entities that buy auto insurance are usually people. (So at least the "People" part is legit.)
2.  Regardless of which bucket you're in, you are a person.
3.  Regardless of which bucket you're in, you switched insurance companies.
4.  If you're in Bucket-A (paid more), you're not included in the average.
Reason: You're included in the average of people who lost money, not saved.
Justification:  How could you be in both averages at once?  You either lost or you saved.
5.  Even if you're in Bucket-B (i.e., paid less), that "savings" says nothing whatsoever about your purchase.
Maybe you dropped the kids off your auto policy?
Maybe you opted for a lower coverage limit, or a higher deductible.
6.  Does not matter.  "Savings" is defined as paying less.
Even if you are paying for nothing.

Don't even get me started on the arbitrary precision of $609.

The "heckler" ad is beyond absurd. If a commoner spoke out as shown in that ad, he would've been chained to a wall in a dungeon until he was a skeleton. Commoners did not mouth off to the gentry!
I actually wanted that little twat to be lanced after the first statement!
God, I'm starting to sound like a bloody Tory!
