I don't like this dick in the first place. Secondly, I'll take some sausage and pepperoni but don't get your pulled porky anywhere near my pizza.

I equate Papa John's with "gimmick" pizza.  All of these different kinds he comes out with (like the spinach alfredo one, which sounds as nasty as it looks) are just a gimmick.  Sure, they may be edible (technically), but they lack the appeal of appearing appetizing.  I'd rather have school lunchroom pizza (at least that has the nostalgia factor going for it) than some of those dog-vomit* creations PJ tries to sell us.
You want acceptable gimmicks that don't induce nausea?  Try heart-shaped pepperoni and football-shaped bacon....

I like the little pizzas at Subway, actually. I've made one with spinach and really loved it, but then again I'm one of the 2 people who loved spinach as a kid.

Might try a pulled pork one....

Ultimately, a pizza has to be good in its most basic state---dough, sauce and cheese.  As far as I'm concerned, all the various toppings such places offer, often just serve to conceal an otherwise bland or mediocre pie.

Makes sense, but I've never really cared for pizza, so when I do buy it, I'm usually going for it for what's on it (Sort of like wanting REALLY GOOD bread to eat on its own, but when you're eating a sandwich you sometimes get less picky.)

Might not help that the first pizza I ever had was at a very fancy restaurant in Henderson just near Las Vegas. Came with goat's cheese, lamb, assorted veg, etc. That said, I still do like the Subway ones. In this town the only other option is a Dominoes...a BAD dominoes...

I suffered through the commercial the first time it aired and I can't ever again.  The way the douche says "Pulled Pork" and how he looks at the camera....ugh.

I love eating pulled pork grinders, not exactly sure if I want it on a pizza though.

I recall going through a Popeye phase for awhile, and actually loving spinach when I was maybe 4.  Eventually though, I hated it.  But as an adult, when I discovered that spinach didn't have to be that horrible mush that my mother used to get frozen, I got to like it a bit more.

I like spinach but would't eat it on a pizza. I'm that boring guy that goes for cheese or pepperoni pizza.

Obviously living in NY I've been spoiled by local pizza joints all my life but Papa Johns, Pizza Hut and Dominos is just plain garbage no matter what they put on it and Papa John himself just irks me.

If you put spinach on my f**king pizza, I will end you.

But spinach aside, I wouldn't eat Papa John's if I had to choose between it and starvation. I will not eat food prepared by a f**king slave driver.

This ad makes me cross because HE DOES NOT cook pizza. He hires people at $7.25 to do it for him. I am not fooled!

"It's called... More Pork."

It's called... Dis-Gusting.
It's called... No Thank You.
It's called... Gag Me With A Pizza Cutter.

Papa John's has never tasted right to me.  I ate it in college occasionally and the dough always tasted like it hadn't been cooked all the way.  The one plus was the dipping sauces they provided for the crusts (probably to mask the hadn't-been-cooked-all-the-way texture/taste).

I like spinach too (even as a kid also), just not on pizza.

This is sacrilege! Damned sacrilege I tells ya'! I want to know what drugs were being used when they thought up this retarded ass idea?  Jesus. Papa Johns has gone to the "asylum".  First, he whined about giving his employees decent wages and proper health care! Typical rich asshole! Second, his pizza became overrated and transformed into everything wrong with America and American cuisine. It became Pizza Hut's evil twin sister (if that's even remotely possible).

Instead of being an honest pizza chain that sticks to the basics and treats their employees as a vital component of the business "Papa John" pulls a Subway wanting everyone to love him!  Not even a fake-sh*t inhuman automaton like Domino's would sink this low. The only pork products that should ever grace a pizza are pepperoni, bacon, ham, and or sausage!!!!

they pulled my pork when they brought me a pizza with hair in it, came to my house, inspected the hairy pizza, said we ate a piece and therefore couldn't have the replacement that was sitting moldering in the car...this creep owes my a pizza and 12 bucks but he'll never get a chance to make it up because I BOYCOTT PAPA JOHN'S above all other chain restaurants...

If I want spinach in a pie form, I'll eat quiche.  (Actually, no, I won't eat quiche either....  Sick )

Oh hey, did you know that "pulled pork" also has a slang connotation?  That should make you wonder

What the hell is Papa John really putting on your pizza?   Shocked

LOL

I don't get the whole, you caught us it's called pulled pork thing.  What am I missing?  Am I supposed to assume he's putting nasty stuff in my pizza instead of the ingredients?  But then, he proved me wrong by saying otherwise.  I honestly don't get it.  I feel stupid.

I didn't really pay attention to what PJ is saying, just that stupid look on his face and saying, "more pork."  So I don't really get it either, even after [shudders] playing the video again.  The whole delivery of the ad copy is awkward to me.  Disapprove

On another note, that background music sounds like something that would be playing in a porn movie, but I don't watch porn, so what do I know?  Confused

Thanks.  I thought he was repeating "pulled pork" hence my confusion.  Papa Johns!  I've never actually tried Papa Johns but as long as they don't turn into DQ commercials they are fine by me.

I only had Papa John's once when it was brought to a picnic. About as mediocre as Domino's but not as bad as Little Caesar's.

Papa John has the range of expression of a botoxed cadaver. I swear he's just renting a human skin. "Hey fleshpuppets! Try our new "long pork" pizza!"

DarkRealmStar, thanks for translating Papa John's garblespeak! I couldn't figure out if he was saying, "poor fork" or "more dork", or what the hell he was saying.

All those nips and tucks around his eyes and nose seem to have affected his speech.

You know, I can't figure out for the life of me why anyone would want pulled pork or barbecue chicken on their pizza. How about ahi tuna? Or smoked duck? Confused

I'll have a veggie supreme with a little bit o'sausage, thank you very much.

Yeah...all that kinda stuff, and it becomes more like an open-faced sandwich than a slice of pizza.

Folks should read up on John Schnatter ('Papa John'). He's really a rather clever person, but not much when it comes to 'social skills'LOL - his employees either totally hate him, or submissively love him.

^I don’t know about Papa John’s history, but his commercials do display a lack of social skills, for sure. Especially since he started trying to be mister niceguy and more engaging after his social blunders speaking out on denying his employees health care.

What I find DO find unintentionally funny about him is something I saw on Commercials I Hate, just before I became a member, in which someone described him as a “human head on a big insect body”. I don’t know why, but since then, I can never look at him without thinking that he’s just a bobble-head on a large insect body.

My only problem with this commercial is that I can't get through it without doing a Beavis and Butthead voiceover "Huh-huh, you pull your pork, Beavis!  Heh, no, you pull your pork, buttmunch, all over your pizza!"
