Is the ad space going to be cheaper?  If so, we'll see the same companies (or their twins if last year's crop went out of business since then) but the ads won't be as "good" as in past years.

This PETA commercial has been banned from the Superbows (this is from the SF Chronicle):

Scroll down a little bit on the page; check out the video.

These guys are as wack as the TRUTH anti-tobacco idiots. When you have to go to such extreme measures to promote what is actually a worthy cause, but the message gets lost in all the 'controversial' and 'edgy' BS, does anybody really get the message?

I actually don't mind the commercial itself (although I was watching it without sound, so maybe there's something to that...Big%20smile)

But I seriously f*cking hate PETA. Even as someone who has worked for stronger laws against animal cruelty, I hate them. How could anyone possibly support an organization that encouraged people to give their pets up to them, and then turned around and euthanized them with the rationale that the pets were "now unfit to live a normal life" since they had been domesticated? So, after the meat woman gets into the tub, it's no longer  vegi-soup.Wink  After Janet Jackson's "nipple" incident, I don't think any commercial like this will get by the censors.

That's why they've banned it.

And, Yutolia, the sound does add "flavor" to the commercial.  This borders on porn.

That's what I thought. If PETA wasn't such a horrendously disgusting organization, I might find it at least funny. But then again, maybe we should get some vegans to protest - veggie exploitation!LOL

PETA = wacko nutjob organization that should be outlawed.    They're just a bunch of assbaskets who are full of themselves and do not truly care about animals.   They care more about shoving their opinions and "pretend care of animals" in everyone else's face.

They're the equivalent of those Right Wing Christians who shove their opinions in everyone's face, while not doing what they preach.

THe ASPACA is much better organization, and they're commericals make sense.

PETA was that group every girl claimed they were a part of in high school, while going through that pseudo vegetarian phase. Luckily I was never one of them. PETA isn't all bad, but they certainly seem extremely crazy and radical at times. What's up with calling fish sea kittens now? It's not going to stop me from fishing or eating fish. Is there something they don't get about people eating animals? ANIMALS EAT OTHER ANIMALS. Sure we should do it in a more humane way, but leaving animals off the dinner plate entirely is denying the reason we have canine teeth in the first place.

Exactly! I hate those self-righteous vegetarian f*cks! Plus, when you mention to them that lots of animals get killed every day do to  the machines that thresh the wheat that they love, their eyes kind of glaze over and they don't know what to do.LOLAngry

NOTE TO NON-SELF-RIGHTEOUS VEGETARIANS: You guys are fine, it's not vegetarianism itself that I take issue with, it's the attitude that comes with some vegetarians.

I have tremendous respect for vegans, that's a hell of a lot of sacrifice to avoid the exploitation of animals.

Me, I try to be vegetarian as often as possible, but can't bring myself to give up fish or eggs (egg farming is pretty cruel from what I've heard- I'm afraid to look into it further!)

I kinda understand the "sea kitten" campaign, but it falls flat. All I need to do is watch the Discovery Channel, look at the marvelous varieties of fish in their own environment, and feel like an a-hole for loving sushi. Ouch

Anyway, I wonder about the psychology of joining these radical groups whose purposes get lost in their own hype.

Agreed, with both!!! ClapClapClapClapClap

Like I've said PETA is for those who are self absorbed and want attention.   That's why they do ridiculous stunts, like this commercial.    I doubt they actually care about animals, as demonstrated in the case of the wolves, or wanting people to not have pets.    They're insane.

As for the vegetarian comment, I disagree.   I think vegans, vagins, vegetarians, vegas, whatever the fuckity fuck these people want to be called this week are insane.    I'm a man, i eat meat.  Simple as that.    That's what we do, it's nature.    The larger animal preys on the smaller animal for survival.   It's the natural order of the world.    What would happen if no one ate meat and we just left all the animals on the farms?   There would be an absurd overpopulation.    Everyone would be malnourished.   There is only so much you can get from non-meat sources.

Oh yeah, it tastes f**king great too.    A big, juicy steak.

I'm starting my own club, called PETA:

PEOPLE FOR THE
E
ATING OF
TASTY
ANIMALS!!!

In 2004 Moveon.org managed to get one of their ads on the Super Bowl. (It may have been a LOCAL Commercial, because I saw no mention of it in any of the "Best/Worst Ads" Topics that appear in the days after the Game.)Angry 2004 produced some of the worst Ads ever for a Super Bowl, and I'm sure this would have been more noted if it weren't for Ms Jacksons "Hootergate" Incident!Thumbs%20Down

I'm sure there are those who KNOW their ads will suck, and to avoid getting blasted in the annual poll they'll have them put in "Local" Slots. Last year GIECO had a Lame Ad that wasn't mentioned at all in the National Poll, so I'm sure they had it placed locally.

I don't have a problem with people following vegetarian/vegan/pescatarian diets. Personally, I meat, and think the key to any diet is moderation.
I get the feeling from some of the more ardent 'vegans' that there's a belief among them that someone NOT eating meat will somehow bring a dead cow/chicken/pig/)insert edible mammal here) back to life.Confused

That's what we do, it's nature. The larger animal preys on the smaller animal for survival.   It's the natural order of the world. What would happen if no one ate meat and we just left all the animals on the farms?

This isn't the problem. If animals came from the traditional farm like 200 years ago, and animals were the primary food source, PETA wouldn't *need* to exist. It's People for the ETHICAL TREATMENT of Animals, after all.

I would eat meat more often if the animals were living in decent conditions and never saw it coming. And I agree that many animals were meant to be eaten; I DON'T agree that humans need to eat meat 3x/day 365 days/year, and certainly don't want to support the miserable conditions in slaughterhouses/factory farms. We evolved as hunters eating meat only occasionally.

In any case, I really wanted to post about the fact that every other ad is ridiculously chauvanistic, and I can't imagine how PETA's could've been considered any worse.

Ban PETA from everything, everywhere. Leave them to the obscurity they have earned, and so richly deserved. They are damned by their own IQs.
