Found this handy dandy Hurricane Category Identification Chart which illustrates expected conditions at each category of strength.

From "cat-1" through "cat-5":

Down to half a tank of gas & stopped at 2 places to fill up.  One was out, the other had a half hour wait.  Decided I'm not really going to drive anywhere anyway, so went home.  Stores were crowded, people buying carts load of water, and, stuff that needs refrig/freezing to keep (Like, hello? Power's going to go out!)
I'll be up on the roof tomorrow with a bucket of tar looking for loose shingles.  Hopefully some preventive maintenance will keep any damage to a minimum.  Really don't want to go through the expensive hassle of trying to get a new roof (especially when half the state will be trying to do the same thing at the same time...)

Nope, not up onto the roof today (it rained.)  But I did drag a 12v DC-to-AC power inverter out of the garage my dad had put together.  Had a good replacement battery handy, but the wrong post connectors.  Ran over to Interstate Batteries, 'oh, we don't carry those, or even adapter cables' (wtf?)  So, went a few miles up the road to Wally-world (not the one Thor is at), found what I was looking for for $3+tax.  Hooked everything together, charged it up, and now I should be able to run a TV for a few hours (sat though the last 'cane with just a radio, not very good for getting updates.)
And the humidity was a bitch today as well...

Encouraging news this morning.

The projected track of Dorian has done what we've been hoping it would do...

Looks to have shifted off shore further east out into the Atlantic ocean.

Not out of the woods yet, but at least there's reason for optimism.

Great news guys.... With the Air Hawk, flat balls are no longer a problem!!!

ABC Liquors is a very familiar and long time Florida fixture.

They're everywhere down here.

ConfusedI forget...are your ABC stores (sort of) State-operated and governed AND have a Mission Statement Lie?

Virginia ABC works to ensure that adults of legal drinking age who choose to responsibly consume alcohol can do so in a safe environment that complies with the laws and regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

I think they are a privately held corporation here in the FLA.

And they check ID's down here too.

It feels like summer time again!  I'm having trouble cooling it off in here.  78 degrees in the kitchen.

There's a nice line of showers heading this way.

Two years ago.

Almost.

Around September 10th or so, less than a week after my mom passed away.

That was Hurricane Irma.

Raked us pretty good.

The dryer air is supposed to move in here very soon.  I've been over-heated all day!

Windy, some rain, still have power.  We got lucky.
Been trying to feed neighbor's cat all day, but it won't come out of hiding.  She'll get hungry enough eventually...

We didn't even get any wind here.

Tuesday afternoon it got a little breezy for a few minutes, but after that it was almost dead still.

The rain has been slow and steady. A little more than a sprinkle, but not quite a full fledged rain.

I'm very thankful for the outcome.
