Actually, that's Jon Batiste from The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The man has genuine musical talent, and it pains me to see him stoop so low as to rip off that 80s tune "Get out of my dreams".
Did you notice the timing of this ad? It's all over the place while the Colbert show is on a break. |

I came back after a SEVERAL-MONTH absence (this website going down for a long time being why) just to loathe this awful freakin' commercial. It's an earworm and a bad earworm at that.
Why are commercials still so stupid?

I share neither opinion of Batiste or Colbert. I think that Colbert along with Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon have destroyed late night television. And not in a "cool" way like "Awesome dude!!! You totally destroyed that thing you did!!!". When Letterman retired it was all over. Jimmy Kimmel isn't bad himself. His monologue is good, but overall the show itself isn't that great. And I don't think Batiste or The Roots or Cleto and The Cletones are all that special as musicians, either. Just my humble opinions. YMMV. (Effing autocorrect. I had to go back and retype Cleto and The Cletones because it got "corrected" to read "Clerk and The Costumes".) |

I don't think he's anywhere near as woke as Colbert and Meyers.
Those two are just sanctimonious dipsh*ts. Fallon is mostly apolitical, but he's a celebrity worshipping lapdog who isn't funny. Kimmel, though obviously liberal in his views, is at least funny and he doesn't usually devote his entire monologue to haranguing his audience about politics. I can forgive a little wokeness as long as there are other redeeming qualities. Never saw The Man Show. |

Imagine if Al Bundy had his own variety show. I think you would've loved it. |

I might try to watch some old episodes on YouTube.
That first premier show aired on my 42nd birthday, btw. |

Johnny Carson acting as Carnac the Magnificent was why people stayed up late back in the day. Leno and his Headlines and JayWalking segments. Letterman's goofiness and chemistry with Paul Shaffer. Craig Ferguson was the last good late night host in my honest opinion. Corden's leaving next year...my dream is to see him, and Secretariat, and Geoff all together again for the funniest skits and cold opens.
If I watch anything late night, it's clips of Real Time with Bill Maher. Carson never revealed his political affiliation and didn't need to. He made equal jokes about Democrats as Republicans. But everyone came together to laugh. And this commercial airs as I am typing this. Ugh...

I like Jimmy Kimmel on his late show, but he was the perfect sidekick to Ben Stein on Win Ben Stein's Money as well.

it seems like hes doing more of a 'all night long' Lionel Richie than MJ-it STILL sucks
real bad--as does late night tv--totally onboard with Jimbos assessment i'd actually watch Letterman all week on dvr but have no desire at all to view any of these 'new' nutbags at any point in time that' Cocoa Butter ' lyric gets tuck in my head everytime this shows

Naaah. Crainbebo said "a long time". There was a week or so when hardly anyone posted, but if you look in Off-topic, you'll see some threads started and replied to within that range of dates. I'm a bit OCD about this site. I may not post every day, but I do check in every day. I might've missed maybe 5 days since 2006 other than when the website bandits tried to steal the site in '08. I have no life. πππ |
