Jimbo, I see they had one album after Hotel Cal, and that was in 79. That pretty much means they were over. They might've remained popular for years or even decades, but's just momentum. I mean hell, the Beatles still sell records, but I think it's safe to say they're "over", too.
It's a rare rock artist that stays relevant much into their thirties. |

Yeah, I liked them. Take a Look Around was the first song I heard by them. |

Well, they did break up after that next album, but the individual members, mainly Henley and Frey, had successful solo careers during the 80's based mainly on their former band's lasting popularity. They could have easily reformed, written new material, recorded a new album and gone on a sellout tour at any point during the 80's without skipping a beat. Plus, I'm sure those old Eagles albums were still selling fairly well, so maybe their star had dimmed somewhat, I think it's a stretch to say they were "over". |

The first song I remember by TJG and still one of my favorite 70's songs..... Takes me back to 10th grade every time I hear it. They also appeared in the 1971 cult movie "Zachariah", billed as "The world's first electric western"... Opening sequence (Laguna Salada).... Job Caine's hideout scene with drum solo by jazz great Elvin Jones.... One of my all time favorite cult flicks. |
