One trend that ticks me off with watching shows on the internet in the age of streaming and cord-cutting is that you're forced to sign in with your cable or satellite provider in order to watch. In an age where pay television subscribers are dropping like flies, how is this a benefit? I think this was created to try to stop piracy, but I think it does the absolute opposite.

I've seen that before but only on the streaming sites of channels that are cable/satellite based anyway.

I can see why they don't want non-payers to be able to watch their shows for free.

I can see why they don't want their shows avalible for free, but the Paramount Network for instance, only lists cable and satellite service, not even one streaming service. We're in 2020 now, so these channel owners better evolve with the times.
