The actor William Schallert, who was a staple as a guest star on TV from the 50's through 2016, but is most recognized for his role as Martin Lane, father of Patty Lane who was played by Patty Duke, on The Patty Duke Show, has died at the age of 93.

This guy's filmography, especially the part pertaining to his TV roles, is a mile long. If you watch the "retro" TV channels like I do, (MeTV, Antenna TV, Cozi TV, Retro TV, etc, etc, etc) you'll see this guy at least once a week in everything from westerns to cop dramas to sitcoms.

He was truly an "every guy" I suppose.

To be honest, I didn't even know he was still alive.

RIP to yet another Hollywood icon.

RIP, Poppo.  That's what Patty called him, isn't it?

One good thing about TV-you could always turn it off

It popped up in Google on Friday as if it was a current story for some reason.

I thought I'd heard he died awhile back, but figured I must've imagined it.
