They play this damn commercial every 20 seconds here in NY where I live. I hate, hate HATE anything having to do with stupid ugly CLOWNS and forcing animals to do ridiculous acts against their nature. The circus sucks. I hope "Grandma The Clown" gets squashed by an elephant. (And then recovers, of course. |

The same commercials air in Indianapolis for Murat's Shrine Circus, held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, in an atrocious neighborhood where the only nearby tenants are Hardee's and a BP station. I've not been to the circus since I was a kid; and that is something I don't ever want to take up as a pasttime again.

Clowns scare the ever loving piss out of me, and "Grandma" is no exception. Spicy - you may get your wish - wasn't it the Big Apple (or was it Ringling Bros) at Madison Square Garden that had a few minor "mishaps" a few years ago? |

Yeah, why are clowns so wierd and creepy looking when they are supposed to be funny? Have they been depicted as evil in too many movies?

Between John Wayne Gacey and Steven King's "it" I think it's safe to say clowns are the new Boogeyman for Gen X and beyond.

I feel for you. Whenever Cirque du Soleil sends another show to San Francisco, we get inundated with the commercial. And I do believe it's only one, shown at every
commercial break. AND they don't even pronounce the name correctly: It's Cirque du Soleil, not Cirque d'Soleil. (You would need to have the word after "du" begin with a vowel in order for it to have an apostrophe.) Could you at least get someone who can pronounce your freaking name right?!

Here's Lizardman. He's with the Jim Rose Circus. I guess you could say he's a clown "for Gen X and beyond".

I hate circuses that are cruel to animals.
I love the animal-free Cirque du Soleil and always catch at least one of THEIR shows whenever I'm in Vegas! |

Can someone tell me why the little girl has to blink about 7,438 times while she sings "The Tent is up!"
Kid looks like she's having a seizure.

Didn't the Big Apple Circus just leave this area? Now that damn commercial is back on the air with that little girl with the horrible lipsynching (at least this time they fixed it so it looks like the girl is actually saying "The tent is up!" instead of her mouth being off like a bad kung-fu movie).
If I have to hear "The Big AP-ple CIR-cus is YOOOOUR circus!" one more time, it's gonna be Crazy Naked Mooch Running Amok Down Times Square time again. ![]() ![]() |

I feel the same way. Clowns scare the living crap out of me. "Grandma" looks like (from the commercials) she's played by a man. (No offence if the person playing her is actually a woman)

AAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
This damn commercial is back! On TV and the radio! Now I'll be stuck hearing that song for the next TWO MONTHS! The circus is here until January 18 so I'll be stuck hearing "The Big AP-ple CIR-cus is YOOOOUR circus!" all throughout the holiday season. If you'll excuse me...Mooch is about to run around Times Square, swinging an axe over her head. |

Mooch:
"... with horses, dogs and acrobats and acts of reknown!"
That should be buzzing in your head for the next, oh, 14 days!
I weep every morning while watching the news because this commercial does come on about 33 times. Followed by The Radio City Christmas Spectacular.
AND Wintuk /Cirque de Soleil.
Please, someone help stop my suffering!

One of the things about this ad that really bugs me is when the guy sings "It's the only circus with New York in its name". Um...the last time I checked, it was called The Big Apple Circus, not The New York Circus. I know The Big Apple is NYC's nickname (by the way, only tourists call it that; no real New Yorker ever would) but they don't actually say New York in its name.
The radio ad for this is longer than the TV one. I hear that damn whistle and music and then I change the station only to hear it on another. A typical day at work goes like this... "There is nothing in this world that-" click "...The Big AP-ple Cir-cus is back..." click " The BIG AP-ple CIR-cus is YOOOOURRRR CIR-cus!" click "The tent is up! The Big AP-ple Cir-cus is-" click "One ring of won-der-ful with GRANDMA the clown!" click "With horses, dogs and ac-ro-bats..." click "The BIG AP-ple CIR-cus is YOOOOURRRR CIR-cus!" AAAAARRRRGGGGHHH!!! CRASH!* *sound of Mooch screaming and throwing the radio out of the 12 Floor window Kill me now. |
