I'm CERTAIN one of the Inquiring Mindless has ALREADY brought this POS into play...but I can't help it. I GOTTA do it again! Don't EVEN try and forgive me - I don't need it. And I don't need TRIDENT LAYERS, dammit! I'll let my teeth rot before trying it, after this commercial. If ANY of you want some 'Trident Layers', I'll ask you comment in the 'Commercial Are Happy' section, Thank You! Think Nathan has that section 'tucked away', in an appropriate corner, somewhere.
Everyone in this commercial should have their friggin' teeth removed with pliers - I'm holding the tool. Looking for 'volunteers', when I get tired. No, Richard - you CANNOT 'torch 'em' UNTIL you pull their teeth - first things first.

I can not even begin to express everything about this ad that pisses me off. I know it's meant to be cheesy but KNOWING it's supposed to be cheesy doesn't suddenly make cheesy ok. WTF is up with the kids bouncing on the couch when their Christina Ricci reject doll accepts gum as a payment?

I would never dream of depriving you the pleasure of playing amateur dentist ala Marathon Man. However, I question your choice of tools. Pliers? Why so civil all of a sudden? I'm thinking of the scene in American History X where Darryl confronts the car thieves. Alls ya need is a curb and a pair of combat boots. Now that's creative dentistry!

I hate hate HATE this stupid commercial! The acting is so over the top and fake it's embarrassing.
"Trident Layers! Mmm! Of COURSE I'd like to be paid in gum!" The part I hate the most is when the sad sack telephone guy laments how he wishes he were paid in gum. I can't roll my eyes any further. |

There's a new stimulus package coming to help out our struggling economy. I'll give you a hint; there's layers and layers and layers.

I hate gum. It's gross and it should be banned.
Especially nasty gum popping. |

I'm ashamed that I'm attracted to that cute little babysitter, but she reminds me of Winnie from the Wonder Years!

??? Of all the things that are wrong with the world, you want to ban gum? Seriously? I won't even get into the whole "freedom" issue, in and of itself a whole seperate argument, but you want to ban gum?

You actually thing I'm serious about that?
Wow. But I'm only half kidding about the gum popping. Can people PLEASE not do that? It's so annoying! Especially in a professional environment where someone has got to chew their gum as loudly as possible and POP it several times, causing me to JUMP and I can't drown them out as headphones are not allowed. ARG >< But damn, folks don't seem to know when I'm being factious. In Singapore gum was banned for a long time.

Hey- around here I never know. I am with you on the annoy factor of gum popping though. It rates right up there with whistling in my world.

Nobody mentioned the creepy mail man, who happens to be black, leaning against the window with a big grin and a stereotypical African-American accent and expression lol. That cracks me up every time.

Actually, this commercial is full of 'bad examples' any way you look at it.
Bad enough there are 'overly-cheap parents'..but 'uninvited guests' and 'stalkers in uniforms', not to speak of a 'depressed individual, very high above the ground and not safe'.
Gives kids bads ideas, doncha know.

It's shown here alot still (pacific NW) ,
...also it seems those two kids on the couch seem malnourished and hopped up on sugar, either that or they both need to go to bathroom. |

This is the first time I'm looking at this topic...but yes! Ever since I first saw this commercial, I've thought the same thing. At first, I even thought it was her. Then I realized that, 20 years on, the Wonder Years Winnie is probably not a teenager anymore.

What's the point of "layers"? As soon as your teeth chomp down a few times on this gum, there are no layers, and it's just plain 'ol gum.

As someone else said, the babysitter reminds me so much of Danica McKellar.
