OMG. You are not a rebel. At least I think that is what they are saying. You are wearing pants. Not even that good looking pants. They look like all other jeans. Quit feeling like you have to show the world how much of a rebel you are. What on earth is the comparison this commercial is making? What is its message? All I know is I feel extreme disgust when this commercial comes on. |

These are stupid, stupid commercials. There are several different versions of the jean commercials. I was pulled in the first time, just curious what the hell this dumb ad was hawking. After I found out, I rolled my eyes and now try and ignore the stupidity that is this commercial!

There's one version of this where it's in black in white (I think) and a girl is staring up at fireworks, and she is SO.OBVIOUSLY.TRIPPING. I hate it. She's a great picture of someone who's done, "one too many" and I almost want to post it as a Just Say No Campaign poster child...LOL. Gah, just what I want to emulate. Some freakishly-heroin-skinny- spaced out- drooling- slack-jawed Mila Jovovich wanna be sh*tting her Levi's. Yeah, I get that strong of a reaction to it.... BLEH!

I cannot comprehend such lofty grandness over JEANS.
Jeans are nothing more than blue pants. Blue canvas pants. They do not equal rebellion or being cool. |

I was wondering when this commercial would come up. They're trying to syphon of some of the Pepsi "refresh generation" campaign, managing to make it icky.

God I love this forum. There's a lot of things wrong with these commercials (yes there's more than one). The wierd, spacey, sprinting, frantic people, the orson welles wannna-be voice-over guy, and the skewed images of (independence day?) Americana. Oh, also gratuitous interracial kissing. Thanks Levi, for another mandatory channel-changer.

I just bought some Wranglers a few days back.
This commercial made that decision EASY.

I'd love to see these Abercrombie & Fitch rejects from the 90's actually set loose on the frontier being chased by Comanches. "Pioneers oh pioneers, do you have your sharpened axes ready? They do!"

All the coolness in that guy's voice was obliterated when the Levis logo popped up.

Levi's commercials started making no sense with that commercial back in the mid-80s---Travis, you're years too late!
That was Levi's, wasn't it?

This commercial is terrible and makes me upset that I wear Levis. They have a particular fit that works great for me, but GOD I really want to find a new brand after seeing this. It's stupid hipster nonsensical message sends me up the wall. It makes no sense and it sounds like it's being read by someone with English as a second language. f**k you Levis, your pants always rip in the same place anyway!

I seem to recall reading a while back, that Levi's was doing poorly, and was going to start emphasizing hipness in an effort to appeal to teens. And I guess they did. I was in Sears last week, and saw in the men's Levi's department, racks of stretch fire-engine red (and other color) jeans that look like they were designed for 1980s teenage girls on their way to see Motley Crue. I swear, the thighs looked to be about 6 inches wide.

Weiden+Kennedy out of portland did these. It screams their style and I looked it up.
I am a minority and like them. Better than the earlier Levis ads with the suggestion of doing it in people's houses of the fake skinny dipping one. But most of all, anything that gets people to hear Whitman is ok in my book. |

although i appreciate them paying respects to good ole walt whitman, i really hate it that he's being tagged with levi's...just as much as i hate it when legends like the beatles get abused in any marketing ploy nowadays...aaaahhhh!!!
however, to shed some light on the creepy voice: supposedly, that's whitman reading some stanzas from "america"... http://www.poets.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/20157 |
