I'm using Christmas ads as an example, but this applies for every season that gets advertised....Back to School, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Valentine's day, 4th of July...etc
You know what I mean.... you just slammed the door on some over zealous trick or treaters who clearly don't understand what it means when you turn off your porch light, when you walk past the TV and there's some quirky Santa telling you better hurry and take advantage of the PRE-Christmas sale this weekend!
or.....
It's mid-January and Duracell hasn't stopped showing that damn 1960's style claymation Santa to advertise their batteries. You're thinking Valentine's Day and Santa is still using half a battery to slide down snow capped hills.
Too early, then won't go away.
When I was growing up, it seemed I didn't see a Christmas ad until after Thanksgiving and by the first week of January, no more.

And in January, not only are you getting all the residual Christmas commercials, but on TOP of that, you're getting the Valentine's Day commercials too. Santa frolicking with polar bears is immediately followed by, "By expensive jewelry or she'll hate your guts" commercials or little kids awkwardly "flirting" and exchanging poorly made glittery cards and candy. |
