Here, take your pick.

See also http://jack.is/angry/bestbuy.php for copies of order information and Best Buy's statements.

I hope no one was stupid enough to actually believe this, but as Best Buy are supposedly honouring the price for the first five orders, we now have a discrepancy, a basis on which to compel Best buy to extend this to the other buyers.

Discuss.
If I remember correctly, I have a poor memory.

You never actually believed there was a $9.99 TV, you tried to exploit an error.
Bets Buy is within their right to cancel the erroneous orders.

Naw, really?

'Course I didn't believe it. I just said I hope no one really did.

If George Carlin is to be believed, we don't have any f**king rights.

If Best buy is to be believed, I agreed that they have the right to cancel the erroneous orders before I knew I did.

Either way people will have fun with Best Buy's PR.
If I remember correctly, I have a poor memory.

Well...SOMEBODY believed it - now BetBuy gets FRONT PAGE on CNN-US.
A mistake.
This shouldn't be news.
HOWEVER...there will be a LOT of whiney teared-up idiots, standing and pointing..."Moooomm!!! BestBuy LIED!!!!!"

Early Wednesday morning, BestBuy.com listed a 52-inch Samsung HDTV for $9.99 -- a savings of more than $1600. As customers jumped on the Web site trying to take advantage of the offer, Best Buy announced it was a "pricing error" and was no longer available. full story

What happens when you put the decimal point in the wrong place.  Wasn't there a gas station sometime ago that sold cheap gas because the decimal point was put in the wrong place?

One guy who showed up said he wanted his FOUR TV's & was going to go see his lawyer if he didn't get them.

I hope his lawyer charged him a hundred bucks to tell him he didn't have a case. LOL

Here's what I would like to know:

What do you think would happen if it were the other way around? Suppose they had TV's that were advertised for $1899, and were in the system ringing up for $9.99? I bet these same jerkwads whose want to call their lawyers to hold BB to their word would be bragging all over the internet about how they pulled one over on BB. Am I right?

Right, Skippy!

But $1899 compared to $9.99 is a blatant error...and I wonder how liable you'd be if the store caught the error later on, and traced it to your credit or debit card.

Some people are just so hot & anxious to get over on anyone & everyone, they completely ignore the idea that typos happen, printing errors happen & all they want is to stick it to some company as hard as they can to get something for nothing.

Of course, if any one of those jerks demanding their $10 TV sets were business owners & the same kind of typo occurred in THEIR ad, they'd do the same thing BB did. They'd have the same disclaimer at the bottom in the fine print, etc. etc. etc.

If they had advertised some outrageous deal like that on purpose just to get people in the store, then sell them something more expensive, that would be different.

Fortunately, the laws are written so as to protect businesses from being shafted because of an honest mistake.

Best Buy may have had it easier than this group who recently "slipped".
