RC,

Old school thing I guess.  I like competition, I like music, and the kids in the final groups are a whole lot more than karaoke crap.

I don't care for the fact that 11 year old girls probably account for most of the voting, but wtf.

TLC used to have interesting programming on during the day, including one of my favorites - Mystery Diagnosis. That has been taken off and 'Baby Story' is on ALL day long, or so it seems. If I were to watch long enough, I'd eventually be treated to one of the reality shows with umpteen children.

Style Network now runs Supernanny and Clean House nonstop. What does Supernanny have to do with fashion and/or style? Couldn't TLC find room on their roster for this dud?

Cartoon Network is pretty much done in my eyes now, considering that Ed Edd n Eddy is over. Well, it was never much of a network in my eyes, considering that they treated EEE like crap and got rid of their few decent shows, but now it's official for me. The only point of that station now is to make the most stupid and obnoxious shows that they can. Honestly, I've lost IQ points just watching those damn new shows in passing. The grammar on this post is pretty bad, and I don't care.

I completely agree. Ed Edd n Eddy was Cartoon Network's last stand and got rid of it. It should have been Flapjack the one to go to hell. Except EEE are in heaven, not hell.

There was a Thread about this exact subject awhile back. I gave up on this channel years ago. They seem to have more commercials than programming, not to mention you have to wait for what to seems like AN ETERNITY to find out what's going on IN YOUR AREA. The Radar only shows what's going on withing 50 miles of your area. My biggest peeve. If there is something like a Hurricane going on anywhere on the Planet, THEY SHOW NOTHING BUT THAT! Nuts to em!Angry

Probably because he's the original in a handful of idiots who'll go out and stand in the middle of a cat 5 hurricane to report it. He better watch his ass though now that Al Roker's on the payroll. Not only did he go out in a major hurricane but he had to have a crew member anchor his bobblehead ass to the ground so he didn't blow away. Top THAT Jim Cantore!

There will have to be an economic breakdown coming pretty soon with some of these channels. There more channels slice up the viewing market, the more distinctive a channel has to be to compete. However the opposite is happening as a channel's specific programing becomes replaced with generic reality programing shown on every other channel. It might be wishful thinking, but I can see MTV finally announcing something like "we're taking it back" or "The Music returns" to signify a return to all music programing.

I'm not totally against all of the new content, however one should stay true to their mission. I would suggest MTV\VH1 use it's primary channel into all music programing, while it's secondary be transformed into Pop Culture\Reality Shows. Meanwhile the History channel can transfer all it's conspiracy shows into H.International and call it the "Conspiracy Channel". And all the "different side of life" shows like Ice Road Truckers and Pawn Stars need to join Dirty Jobs on the Discovery channel where they belong.

Here's what happend Hootman, (And all of you in Rio Linda)

Cartoon Network used to be dedicated to Animated Programs

Nickleodeon was primarily Children's Programming, however in the evening they initiated "Nick at Night" and showed Classic TV Shows. This became so popular they launced a Channel that was dedicated to Classic TV Shows called TV LAND.

MTV aired Music Videos, primarily Rock and Roll, they also launched a Sister Network, VH1, which was geared tword Adult Contemporary Music.

The History Channel aired Programs geared tword History.

The Disney Channel aired all those great old Disney Classic Shows.

The Discovery Channel aired Science Programs. and Spun off some Sister Channels, TLC, which aired Educational Shows, and Animal Planet, which was geard tword programs featuring Animals.

Life was Good. Then along came a new kind of Show, the "Reality" Show. About 10 years ago they made their debut on Network TV, as they came on, quality programs began to disappear, one by one. It wasn't bad at first, the Cable Channels held their own for a few years, but then the "Reality" trend hit them as well. Spreading like some Malignancy from H-E-(Double Hockey Sticks), the Networks as well as countless others, became, IMO "Unwatchable". Now those networks no longer resemble what they started out as. I gave up watching a little over two years ago. I am beginning to wonder how much longer will thede networks continue to thrive. Have you heard anyone say anything GOOD about these Networks Lately? They haven't collapsed yet, but I see it happening someday. Youcannot continue to be successful if you continue to alienate your Audience. A House divided against itself cannot stand!

and the list goes on and on. Many of these channels deaths were caused by Reality Shows.
You also need to add CMT to that list!

I know I complain about this a lot, but a lot of people aren't just "politically incorrect," instead, they have to PROVE it to you every chance they get. So I can imagine those people giving it an audience, just to remind the world how un-P.C. they are.
