As if 2020 couldn't be worse, we've lost Alex Trebek after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He hosted Jeopardy since 1984 and hosted many other shows too. He was still taping shows as recently as October 29th. Probably one of the greats in game show hosting. I'm sure he and Regis are having a great time now in heaven, hosting more quiz shows.

JUST saw this news. It shouldn't come as a total shock...but it does.

I thought about it a few weeks ago watching Jeopardy, he tended to post some updates on his progress...but haven't seen any in a long while. He did say in ABC news interview if his recent treatment wouldn't work, that would be it. 😞

It's just sad, seriously f- this year, f- cancer!!

That actually came from his book, and he later said that he'd go back to his previous treatment.

I never really watched Jeopardy, but Trebek was a class act.

Whoever, if anyone, takes over the show, will have a very large pair of shoes to fill.

RIP Alex.

This totally ruined my day. His last show is going to air on Christmas. Yes, ill be bawling my eyes out.

Prior to his cancer, he also suffered 2 heart attacks and brain surgery.

What a class act. Think of all the contestants on his show whose lives were touched by this great host.

RIP Mr. Trebek. The world got a lot sadder for me today.

We've now lost four game show hosts in one year. Before we lost Alex, we also lost Regis, Tom Kennedy and Hugh Downs.
And what's interesting and sad, is both Hugh and Alex hosted versions of Concentration. Hugh hosted the original version on NBC and syndication that ran for about 15 years, and Alex hosted Classic Concentration also on NBC from 1987-91.

Even though we all knew that he was going to pass away, this news is very sad. Alex Trebek seemed like such a genuinely kind and compassionate person, and the world is at a loss with his passing.
Rest In Peace, Alex Trebek...

Yup, definitely.

A lot of rumors of who could be hosting Jeopardy! next. I had a very strong hunch that Ken Jennings would take over as the host. But now George Stephanopoulos (ABC News) could be next...

Wow.... doesn't Stephanopoulos have enough work with GMA on weekday mornings, This Week on Sunday mornings and now this?

He might as well just take up residence in the TV studio.

You could say the same with Steve Harvey and Ryan Seacrest.

Oh GOD...don't let Ryan be the new host...

I think in order to replace Alex, you need someone very likeable at the helm. Seacrest is too polarizing, in my opinion.

Steve Harvey would be a bad choice too. Too loud, too energetic, and doesn't always have the best English or Grammar. Plus, I'm sure the show would be dumbed down if he were to host. He should stick to Family Feud where he's great at.

Agree 100%

Jeopardy needs an erudite host.

Maybe go with a Brit like Alan Cumming....

I think he'd be a natural fit for Jeopardy.
