Thanks Jimmy.

It truly helps when people empathize.

It can take some time before the sadness goes away and is replaced with numbness.

Yeah, I know. It really doesn't.

After awhile it gets to where you can think about it without getting that sick, lonesome feeling in your gut, though.

I won't be there for awhile.

The only thing that sort of puts it all in perspective for me, is thinking about all the real, unimaginable tragedies people go through. Like the families of those people on that jet that got shot out of the sky last week, or the families of all these mass shooting victims. My German cousin lost his wife to cancer right before Christmas. I guess if they can live through that, I should be able to stand the loss of a pet. Almost makes me feel like I have no right to feel grief.

But I do. And thinking about all those other people doesn't make it feel any better.

Just puts it into perspective.

One of them.

I was going to link to the post from 2014 where I posted a couple of pics of him in my backyard before he decided to come in and live inside, but those dickwads at postimage lost every pic on their server prior to a couple of years or so ago, so they aren't showing up anymore.

Gotta drag out the old laptop out and search there or on the thumb drive.

Yeah, I've buried three and it sucks every time.

I'm still going up and down right now.

I'll think of some cute little habit or thing he'd do and start getting choked up.

Gonna go after lunch and pick up his body.

Then it's another little grave to dig. Cry

Thanks for thoughts, though.

Don't "what if" yourself, that will eat a hole in you if you let it. You did what you could, and I'm sure Fidget was grateful.

RIP Fidget.

Thank you. I truly appreciate it.

It's something I've been through a few times now and something every pet owner knows they'll have to face someday, from the time their new buddy first sets paw in the door.

Now I have another little grave to dig in the backyard.

Just got a call from the vet.

Even though we did everything we could to save him, my furry little pal Fidget passed away overnight.

They did a blood transfusion yesterday and I was cautiously hopeful, but as soon as I heard the tone in the vet's voice when she called, said hello and asked "Am I speaking to....", I knew it wasn't going to be the happy news I was hoping for.

What makes it tougher is how fast it happened.

Last Friday morning he seemed as fit as ever. Gobbled up his morning chow like always then went to hang out somewhere. Lunch time came and he did something I had never seen him do. He sniffed at his food and didn't eat a bite.

I keep thinking that had it happened earlier in the week, I might have gotten him to the vet a day sooner and it might have made the difference. Guess I'll never know.

I just know I'm going to miss him. CryCryCryCry

RIP little pal.
