The Queen of Soul has died.

After having been put in hospice care in recent days, Aretha Franklin has passed away at the age of 76 from pancreatic cancer.

Aretha is a legend and there are so many words and platitudes that could be written, but I'll just leave it that this is indeed a sad day for her family, friends, fans and the music world.

RIP and thanks for everything you gave.

CryRIP, 'Areefa'!
I would have beat the ol'Mule to the very same clip, but *I* have a life that occasionally requires attention in front of CIH, so he got here first to 'Speak The Truth'!Wink
So, let me toss along a little one from 'Michael' (not well known, but excellent movie).

The Queen died on the same date as the King.  Elvis died this day in '77.

RIP, Aretha.

This breaks my heart in a bunch of pieces. Aretha was an awesome lady and singer. Very respectful with everybody and she released so many good songs. 'Chain of Fools,' 'Freeway of Love,' 'R-E-S-P-E-C-T', you name it. Along with her beautiful rendition of 'O Christmas Tree'. Well, she's up with the Lord and having a wonderful time. Maybe she's doing an Elvis-Aretha duet right now. RIP Queen of Soul!
Back after a long absence...still hating those commercials. Go away Limu Emu and Doug!

DisapproveMy goodness! All this fame gone on the same day...if I didn't know better, on this day during some fine year, The Big Guy Above *may* come looking for me since he got the rest and now wants 'The Best'...I think I'll learn to 'hibernate' because

Sad day I'm so glad I got to see her live about 23 years ago. What a talent. RIP, Queen.

Rest In Eternal Peace, Queen Of Soul Aretha Franklin!
I saw this wonderful lady perform in London in the early 1970's and I was amazed at the power and emotion she had in her voice. She was able to tell a story in each song from the power of her vocals, and she was such a spiritual lady.
I am sure that she is the lead singer in heaven's choir right now!
