I literally hate the Sarah McLachlan Christmas commercial and the rest of the year we're stuck with Kaley Cuoco. If we're using the DVR, we FF past them and if not, we mute the TV. We have two cats and used to own horses. I was raised on a farm. I don’t want to see any animal abused but come on with the weepy over sentimentality. I’m angered and offended when I’m told animals are suffering and dying. So are HUMANS. No one has an infinite amount of money. Forty years ago , I watched my grandfather die a horrible death from cancer. In 2014, we watched our dear father suffer the same death. It was agonizing to watch. Hospice did what they could but it gets beyond anything they can touch. When did animals lives become MORE important than human beings? I beseech anyone who has extra money to donate to please donate it to cancer research or research for any number of incurable diseases. The money these people beg for on a monthly basis could go a long way in reaching cures for humans. When animals are suffering & dying, they can be put down. I thought of that so many times when I watched what my loved ones endured. When our animals were beyond help, they were administered a painless injection and died in our arms. Humans don’t have that same option. 😓. We need a little perspective here.

I've been seeing this one, not sure why. They have a really sad 'Silent Night' ad.
How could that ^ turn into this annoying twat that likes to swap man seed with her friend? So f*cking annoying!! |

Welcome.
I share your pain although not entirely the same. These days I address my own family 'Elder Care' issues with degenerative mental and physical disorders. I donate plasma regularly for Alzheimer's medicines and research. And money when it is possible. Cancer research? Love to donate, but there are SO MANY DIFFERENT KINDS OF CANCER - the one common thing I have found is that it kills, no matter what kind. Yes, people need to do their part and leave their personal impressions on this big ol'goofy earth - and maybe cancer isn't their purpose. The critters need us too, although when I see any of these US-based 'Saving Dora' groups out there protesting Canadian Baby Seal clubbing, that's where I lose interest. I sure don't need any Sally Struthers-wannabe/sound-alike to come bleating and pleading for help about what our nasty Canadian cousins are doing to poor furry little 'Lunch', doncha know... No, they won't get my dollar...and flood victims may get a few dollars...and cancer research may get a dollar or two - but as it is with others, whatever the degenerative disorder of any kind closest to any one person or family will probably be the one a person chooses to support studies.

Animals' lives are not treated as more important. There are a lot of resources out there for abused or suffering humans. Not as much for animals. Nevertheless, I don't watch these commercials either (though Kaley Cuoco is not the problem ). |

That's interesting. I'm not sure what makes you think there is any actual cow meat in Taco Bell products. As for ASPCA (generally speaking)... It's that time of year to make a $100 donation to the local no-kill shelter. |

You clearly didn't read what I previously said. It's that time of year to donate to whatever cause touches one closely the most, and then only if they can. ...and the locals have me dining in fear, so I'm eatin' fowl about nowwwlll....

Those commercials are on Comedy Central, hence why I stay off that channel.

Actually, human euthanasia aka Physician-Assisted Suicide and Physician Aid in Dying (PAD) is available and legal in Washington DC, California, Colorado, Oregon, Vermont and Washington State. So there is that. Perspective? It's not an either or. People can have compassion for humans and animals at the same time. We've been down this road before here on CIH. New member joins, posts about animal welfare commercials they don't like because they're too sappy, sad, and it's not fair to help animals when people are dying! The thread usually doesn't end well and then it dies. Sorry for your suffering, but most people encounter some type of suffering of loved ones in their lives, be it human or animal, or they've suffered themselves. I will donate my money to whatever causes I wish to donate to, thank you very much.

Survey says most guys like the long-haired Kaley Cuoco (Priceline commercials) better than the short-haired Kaley Cuoco (HSUS commercials).

The main thing that bothers me about these commercials are that they are TOO LONG.

Yeah. I always switch as quickly as I can to another channel. I'll return to the offending channel after awhile, and sometimes the SPCA commercial will still be on. |

And, in true CIH fashion, this thread turns into a Kaley Cuoco commentary.

See above. I edited my comment. Now, it can be about Brigitte Bardot. |

One wonders if our thread originator and new member is really just another sighting of the rare, spotted-titted Donathang...but having said that and before anyone actually tries to get this thread back on track, let me just say that if a man clubbed Brigitte Bardot ~or~ Kaley Cuoco, he'd get a spot on the news for an evening and maybe be forgotten a few days later, even if either of them had cancer...but if he were to club just one baby seal....

I love my pets! I've been a member for MANY, MANY years and actually do have a ton of lawyers that respond if I whistle, for only $10 per month. I never leave a healthy/worthy legal crit in a cage. My best friends and confidants have been lawyers for many years. It is rare that when I toss out the 'kibbles & bits' any come back demanding steak...

Wouldn't it be nice if they used the money they spend on commercial air time and back into the animals in their care. As a matter of fact, I'm tired of the whole holiday "Parade of Pity" they throw at us. I'm soooo sick and tired of St. Jude's and their use of donation money to buy up that same advertising time. And, at this point, I care so little about the kids and the parents that are hand-picked to be in these ads that I would never send them a dime. And why aren't they more concerned with finding a cure instead of just pumping these kids full of dangerous chemicals and radiation on a daily basis? Either cure them or just let them pass. Death is a way of life for both children and adults.

I wonder if the greedy, profit hungry networks and their affiliates give orgs like St Jude and ASPCA etc, a hefty break on advertising rates, or if they soak them for the regular prices they charge the car and fast food companies to air their slop? That's what would be nice. Give them FREE or close to free, air time. I know conservative heads will explode at the notion of yet another gub'mint regulation, but IMO, networks should be required to provide x amount of free air time for non-profit, public service organizations. As depressing as their ads may be, these charities NEED to advertise in order to get their message out. And even though I mute them just like everyone else does, I don't blame them for trying to show the sad realities they are trying to change. |
