DENNYS!!!!!
I just got laid-off and the mortgage on my house foreclosed. I can't afford to drive, but when I feel like breaking the bike out, I head straight for Denny's to get a Grand Slam for $4.99! This economy may strike out, but at least Denny's hit's a grand slam with this ad. Seriously, though. Preying upon this economy and and the government bail-out to hawk cheap meals at Dennys? Give me a break. |

The idea that eating out is cheaper than eating at home is preposterous. It may cost a little more to buy all the ingredients in the Grand Slam breakfast, but you'll have enough for many meals, rather than just one.
Still, a lot of people believe it's preposterous to have to actually cook for themselves when you can get a few slices of pizza for $5 or a Grand Slam for $4.99. I can't say I didn't eat my share of pizza and burgers when I was younger.

Besides, $4.99 is not that cheap when you consider that a cup of coffee is another what.... $1.50? Add tax & tip you're lookin at over $8.
Better to just go to Frisch's Big Boy or Golden Corral & get the all-u-can-eat breakfast buffet.
Eat once in the morning & you're good for the day.

Does it mention that you WILL need health insurance to pay for the cardiac rehab you will, undoubtedly, need after a steady diet of their food??

I don't really like pancakes(so I wouldn't know), but couldn't you buy a box of pancake mix and some bread and have pancakes & toast for a week.

Their food sucks. All the Denny's here closed. The only time I ever ate at one was after working third shift, or closing down a strip-club (R.I.P. Platinum Plus) because it was across the street. Helped sober you up for the drive home.

It's weird, I went to a Denny's on a trip to western Mass. It was a Dennys, but it wasn't a part of the chain. They made the best hash browns I've ever had in my whole life.

I think I went to one, once, somewhere near Springfield, but it was years ago. Other than that - I don't think we even HAVE any Denny's. If we do, they are invisible
IHOP's are rare, too.
There are too many local, independent breakfast and lunch places to give them any business. That's my theory.
It's why, I believe, we don't have any Red Lobster's around, either.

Denny's has gotten friggin expensive over the years, & their food is MAYBE "so-so" if you get lucky & find a good one.
When I was about 20 - 21 y/o & attending the local community college, I worked nights at a local Pizza Hut. On the nights when I'd work closing shift & we all got off around 1 am, often times we'd all head over to the Denny's right around the corner & get some late night chow.
We'd pile into a big booth & I'd always get their big grilled cheese w/ fries on the side. Then we'd sit there drinking free coffee refills until about 3 or 4 am shootin the sh*t & laughing our asses off about whatever.
Great fun, thinking back on it now.

The only reason that the Dennys is still open around here is it's the only place in town where teen can go stay out all night and smoke.

They let people smoke in Denny's????
I didn't think people were allowed to smoke indoors anywhere anymore.

In this Dennys, they are allowed. I think they understood that pleading with the county to make some kind of exception was the only way they were going to stay in business.

We like Denny's Chili-Cheese Fries with their Chocolate Shakes! ESPECIALLY at the Denny's, off of I-90, in Syracuse - they REALLY do it RIGHT!

I prefer a good old fashioned diner to Denny's. I love going out for a big breakfast! And brunch to me is a slice of heaven! |

$9 for lunch seems kind of steep. But then again, I brown bag it. (9 x 5 + $45 per week) YIKES. I know it is a treat to eat out maybe once a week, but I can't afford it every day. |
