Seriously.
And that so-called "mom" strutting around her upper class, yuppie palace with the expensive hardwood flooring, clad in her tight pants, spiked high heels and smug, self-satisfied expression, acting like anything her precious little sissy-boy brat does is just the cutest thing imaginable...? This crap is just nauseating on every conceivable level. Yuck. |

How do we know he's not a transgender? I understand that's very popular these days.

At that age it's impossible a to tell just by looking at their faces. The only way we could find out for sure would constitute kiddie porn and we do not want to go there!!!! |

I've got a protective something inside me that quickly erases what I saw when I see something like this...and thanks to MrP, I get to remember I saw this darned commercial and wondered if the public was being exposed to a private family film of Elton John in his youth.
(P.S.: You are experiencing a kinder, gentler, more sensitive to 'differences' Paw, doncha know - so you're welcome. What do I mean? I mean I didn't refer to the kid in the Swiffer commercial as 'Mommy's Little Weenie-Washer', which could have been offensive to some.) |

More manufactured "progressivism" to sell the corporate image over the actual products. And, ironically, it turns out to be utterly demeaning to gay people. They're using a reductionist, Bravo TV-grade token gay caricature (how else could that preening, immaculately-dressed hairdresser-savant possibly be interpreted?) to suggest they have a "progressive" corporate attitude. It's so obvious that it's done in the name of profit, and not genuine devotion to a principle of inclusiveness and equality.
Were things like blackface still socially popular, the same company would be doing Al Jolson routines in their commercials. But they wouldn't ever directly come out and say they feel blacks are clownishly inferior to the cultural norm of white gentility. That would be too alienating! The same principle can be applied to their oblique display of fashionable progressivism: They will imply through token minority caricatures that they support progressive notions, but will never directly endorse them. Not at the risk of alienating their more Conservative buyers. From where I'm standing, there's absolutely nothing wrong with homosexuality. There's nothing wrong with being flamboyant, even. Homosexuality has existed since the dawn of civilization. But throwing stereotypes of token minority race/gender/class/orientation individuals into advertisements for the sole purpose of widening your market appeal is pretty sickening. It's totally manufactured, and I am not going to be won over by such chickens**t, indirect posturing. It's an affront to my intelligence to think I could be. |

Gee Whiz, the kid is a little young to be called out on his sexual preferences, yes?
He may want to be a florist or a flight attendant.

No.
It's in the bag, what a drag - he's a fag. He still looks little 'Little Elton John' who has the early opportunity to turn in that royal 'Sir' (knighted) for 'Little (Swiss) Miss', as in 'Hot Chocolate'.

I hate it when different companies use the same music in commercials.
I believe this song was composed by Mozart, he is bound to be turning over in his grave.

I noticed the different ID from iSpot, I think it's the same song just done by another group or orchestra.

Agree with pretty much all the posts. I don't mind homosexuality or biracial couples per se but all of this blatsnt placement of it in advertising just so they can appeal to a larger market is sickening to me and insults my intelligence. If I WAS gay I'd personally boycott every one of these companies. There is supposed to be a Gay boycott on chick fil A and my gay friends don't GAF everybody loves chick fil A. These commercials are much more pervasive and blatant.

Blimey! That little one is definitely going to be a poof. I thought the same thing about the teenager who prances to the bedroom of his parents to announce that he had a minor car accident, his Mum bans him from the car for four weeks....and his Dad looks like he'd like to smack the gay out of him!....in the All-State advert.

^^^THAT commercial really is odd - I do not ever recall ever going into my parents' room - it just wasn't acceptable. And in the commercial? If I didn't know better, it seems like Mom & Dad are all dressed up and ready for anything other than bed, on top of which, I get a feeling like their room is a converted upstairs playroom - just too accessible, open, and brightly-lit.

They screwed up that commercial by not having either... A) Mom, ground her kid using the voice of Allstate's spokeman Dennis Haysbert. or B) Just showing "Mom" in bed with Dennis. edit: or even C) Show "Mom" in bed with Mrs. Henderson. Ba-Bam!!! |

I just like the classical music the rest I could give less than a crap about. I'm the type of person who would put Double Clef FM on when playing GTA.
