Hmmm. I could see if it was updated because of clothes and hairstyles or something, but those things haven't changed much in the last 8 years. Even the one soccer ball poster on the wall is the same one*.
*See the one in the lower left corner of the screen capture in "Josh's room"? You can find it in Karl's room, too. It seems to move around, though, in Karl's room. Anyway, I think that instead of sniffing the curtains, Mom should pick up a pair of the kid's briefs off the floor and sniff his skidmarks. That's the culprit. |

The same soccer ball poster appears again in the second ad on the left wall. (Then appears again in another wall) Then mysteriously disappears at the end of the ad!

well it saves on brain work..and perhaps they thought the PERFORMANCEs would be better from this more SAVVY of casting calls--the kid is WAY better on the new one but..
who cares!

I sometimes notice things in TV shows/commercials/movies that the "continuity" people didn't...like when a clock advances too much or not at all, or when someone's hairstyle changes within the same scene, etc. It usually happens when I've seen the same show or commercial too many times and I start noticing things other than the action/plot/dialogue. |

I also wondered why they made the same damned commercial with different people.
That first kid was a dork, "Wash it?"
Mom should worry more about how the room smells after his guest's leave.

Well, the first kid came across as a stoner, and after seeing his not one, but two "friends" that appeared way out of his league, and mom so eager to make his room presentable, I'd say he was a seller and the girls were buying.
I think that's why they changed it to a more cleaned up kid. So now my version has also changed, now the girls are selling, and mom's just proud of her son. At least, proud enough to help hose down his room with Febreze, after maybe failed attempts to get him to keep the room clean? |

Well either way, if I had spoken to my parents the way that kid did, I would've found out real quick that time travel IS possible!

I remember the first time I saw the re-shot commercial, I was really perplexed. I still am. The whole idea of it seems so bizarre. I wonder if there was some sort of legal/PR issue with one of the actors behind the decision. Still, why recreate the same commercial?
It makes even less sense considering the ad's mediocre script and concept. |

I was positive they had remade that darned commercial - just too lazy to check.
The Missus used to like having a bottle of Febreze around for the 'every now and then', but always equated it to 'putting lipstick on a pig'. Somehow or another, this practice permanently impressed *all* of the kids. A visit to any one of their places will find each and every spotless and germ-free.
Whenever I spy a bottle of Febreze in someone's front room, I'm usually hesitant to sit down and probably only going to stay for a short time. If you need to 'wash your room'. just what could you be hiding?

^ I used to use it occasionally on the cloth-upholstered couch in my computer/stereo room. There's not many alternatives for actually cleaning such furniture. Even if you called in Stanley Steemer, it's not like they'd do anything about the stuffing.
