My beautiful boy Mikey passed away early this morning. He had horrible epilepsy, and after having multiple seizures in a row his fever spiked to 104 degrees and nothing could be done. My heart is completely broken. He was like my shadow.

Oh, sh*t, Big Momma.  I'm really sorry to hear about this.  Is he the guy on your business card---the one you sent with the painting of Mickey?  I have that card tucked into the frame with Mickey.  If that's him, I see Mikey every time I look at Mickey!

I'm sure he's thanking you right now for having given him a great life.

I wish you my sincerest condolences. All of my pets are special and I love them, but my Sadie dog is my shadow and she is so loyal and wants to be with me everywhere I go.

I'm extremely saddened to hear this Big M, Cry but please do know that Mikey's crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, and that any suffering that might have occurred prior to his death has been permanently alleviated.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I'm afraid that I an not coping very well. I am utterly and completely desolate. It is if my shadow has suddenly vanished. I don't know how to deal with this loss.

It's going to be hard for awhile.

After my each cats died, for several days I'd find myself thinking about them & just not being able to believe I'd never see them again. I'd start getting choked up a little, but eventually I came to accept it. It's just part of life & something we all have to deal with at one time or another. He is in a peaceful place now with no suffering. Keep an open mind that someday you'll be reunited. It helps.

Hang in there.

Big Momma, my deepest condolences go out to you.

An old friend of mine just lost her cat of 14 years and she was her closest companion as she lives alone.

I hope you'll be able to treasure your fondest memories of him.
Best wishes.

Big Momma,

You're not alone in your grief.  You may feel alone and that your shadow is gone, but Mikey will always be with you in spirit.  He's not suffering anymore and you gave him a wonderful life!

It's so hard for us pet parents to lose our loved ones.  Please be at peace.

Hug

Visit here, post pictures, blither on as much as you want about the pooch.  That's what I did when my Killer died.  Everyone here was great.  It helped a lot.  I also had friends and family calling me.

I also had some prints made of my favorite picture of him.  I got some frames from the Dollar Tree, and right now, this picture sits atop my printer, about a foot and a half away from my face.  I also have one downstairs.

Really!  Wallow as much as you want.  Dwell, dwell, dwell!  I certainly did.  It helped.

I remember seeing lots of pictures of him here. I know you love him a lot. I'm so sorry to hear this, BM... No matter what people tell you, losing a pet is extremely hard and grieve as much as you need to.
