^ Oh yes, I remember that one now and it's good too, thanks for the heads up.

And I can definitely see the Clapton Disraeli Gears/White Room-Sunshine of Your Love influence on Tame Impala's guitar.. good stuff! White Room too, Jack Bruce- one of rock's greatest voices. (Except it's Clapton that sings this song I believe. He was as shy about his voice as Jimi Hendrix was.)

Yeah, I could see that.  My first thought was Cream, though.  I hear a little Spoonful and White Room in there.

This isn't the first song of theirs used in a commercial.  There was this one for Blackberry, too.

^ Thanks for this- I like this much better in full context and a pretty good tune too. I wish they had used more of it in the ad campaign.

It's nice to hear about celebs who act civilly.

The band is Tame Impala, and the song is much different than the blues lick used in the commercial.  It's kind of heavy-psychedelic.  The singer sounds a bit like John Lennon.  I posted another song by them in another thread once.

Here's the full song used in this commercial:

Kiefer's "well-behaved" tequila commercial:

For kicks, check out the "mashup" of Kiefer on YouTube. (Didn't know if I should post it here) Wink

I don’t hate these ads or this ad campaign.

But I am extremely tired of hearing this tired music that accompanies it, and I always reach for the mute as soon as I hear it.

These “blues” licks remind me way too much of another VERY often heard tired and um, limp blues refrain that accompanies the Viagra ads.

And fact is, I love Ray Liotta, having had the distinct pleasure of waiting on him at the bar I worked in the mid to late 80s.

The connection to Kiefer Sutherland is that Liotta and Sutherland were both in town shooting the movie they both starred in, “Article 99”.

Liotta was the consummate gentleman and always ate at our bar, while Kiefer would invariably show up later with a wild group, and it was during that period that Kiefer was in his most self-destructive party animal stage. (I could share a few other tales about that period when they were in KC)

But Ray Liotta was always cool, gracious and a very classy fellow; good tipper too. He would come in around dinner time, have a glass of wine or two (sometimes with a gorgeous woman of course) then have some dinner at the bar and tip very well of course.

Kiefer on the other hand was a late-nighter who terrorized the entertainment area and proved to be anything but well-behaved during that period. It was, in fact, the time of the downfall of his engagement to Julia Roberts.

And now decades later, here they are, both selling tequila. Liotta having made a long and successful career (most famously in “Goodfellas”, his best role I think) and Kiefer having righted his life and career with the wildly popular “24” series.

The whole trailer length “featurette”:

Ray is just too cool.
