Anyone ever hear of or eat at this place?
I think they're mainly east coast to midwest.
Grilled "Redneck" Italian food.
Looks & sounds good in the commercials.

Jimbo,
We have one in Cincy and one of its dishes won the annual "Taste of Cincinnati" this year. A chain has never won it before. We ate at one in Columbia, SC last month for the first time. We were very pleasantly surprised. It is not a typical Italian place. When we told our server that it was our first visit, the manager sent over a very large dessert to share. |

How are the portions otherwise?
The pictures on the website look like I'd have to order 3 of everything just to get full.

They were perfect for me. I'm the type that always eats everything on my plate even if it way too much. Never had a doggy bag.
So, they were smaller than most chains server today. |

See, I wouldn't like that no matter how good the food.
I'm a quantity guy.
I'll put up with less than excellent food as long as there's lots & lots of it.
Needless to say, I'm a big fan of Golden Corral....

I've eaten there... and from what I remember, the portions were very small. And coming from me, that means very, very small (it doesn't take much to make me full).

So those pictures on the website must be accurate, then.
I'll never eat there.
Unless someone else is paying, that is.

Awright!!!!!
And remember.... I'll have to order TWO of whatever it is because their portions are so small.
Or you can just take me to Golden Corral Buffet.
Either way I'm happy.

Jimbo, we have a Carraba's here, and I ate there once. The food was very good, but I thought it was overpriced and the portions were small.
Truly, is Golden Corral good???

Olive Garden is in the same category as Applebee's, TGI Fridays,Red Lobster, and Chilis: sort of tasteless glop. Now, I love crappy food as much as the good. I'll eat a hot dog and potato salad for dinner any day just as I'll eat good Sushi. But places like Olive Garden to me are pointless. I agree. Their ads suck. They aren't funny or even amusing in a bad way.

We are losing a lot of chains here in the Portland area. All but one Hooters out of 4 are gone (who wants girls in tights and soccer shorts when you live in a city with the most strip clubs per capita in the US?)
We lost Tony Roma's, some Red Lobsters, Olive Gardens, and a lot of Chili's and TGIFridays. It's weird. I never noticed at first but then I drive by and will see it and think, "There was something there, what was it?" Then recently they did a story on how we are losing these chains. It's a good sign really, being a lot of it is response to these companies stretching too fast in the early decade but a lot of these places are finding that American's are growing weary of bland homogenized food. On a related note, my house passes through an industrial area and I drive by a "Graveyard" of sorts. It's where old chain signs go to die. Just this weekend we saw a giant red chili. I want that giant chili. |

All the OGs here in the Kansas City area are usually crowded, especially so on weekend evenings. We've actually ended up going elsewhere after pulling into the parking lot and seeing dozens of people waiting outside.
The times we've eaten there, we were not disappointed.
I've never eaten at Carrauba's, and hope soon to try this fairly new place called Johnny Carino's. My boss ate there and was very impressed.
What I miss is this family-owned Italian place called Jennie's, which closed around 2000 or so. The lasagna was the best I've ever tasted.
Fazoli's is what it is- a fast-food Italian restaurant- but the unlimited breadsticks make going there worth the money(provided the wait staff goes around and passes them out).
(OT: Being that Chili's was mentioned previously, I recommend trying the mini burger platter!! Mrs. Doggie and I went there one day for lunch and ended up taking half of our food home for supper the next evening!!)

My father is obsessed with Carrabbas. Anytime we pick someplace to go eat, he usually votes for Carrabbas. I'm not overly enthusiastic about them, or Olive Garden. Olive Garden commercials are far more annoying though, the newest "You do the math, I'll do the alfredo" one is particularly bad. |

Who the f**k goes to Olive Garden and acts like that? One of the lamest commercials out there currently. Olive Garden is nasty anyhow.

Who? Nobody! People go there because they plant themselves in the middle of shopping area parking lots and it's easier to get there, if you're shopping already, than it is to go somewhere else. It's been a long time since I've even been into one, but I don't recall any emphasis on olives, which one would expect. No. They push salad and breadsticks, with a hidden surprise gift of a pound of salt mixed in.

Now that football season has begun, I'm watching a lot more TV than I used to. I've seen this "I'll do the math" ad repeatedly over the weekend. Every time I see it, i want to stab those people in the eye with their three-tined Olive Garden forks. I cannot freakin' stand this strain of OG commercials, and am patiently waiting for them to slowly die off.
But hey, it's still better than the Applebee's Apple: "A-puh-beees... getit ta-GETH-uh, baayby!"
