Don't worry PaW, I don't see your kindness (if I've ever seen it) as a sign of weakness.

I've been super busy this summer. I'm happy that the season is winding down so I can finally catch my breath. Not looking forward to the fall or winter by any means though. It is nice to get a break from the second job. There's still a few projects left to do, but nothing big. We did pretty well this season. We stick built 4 houses, ranging from 1800 sq ft, to 4700 sq ft. And that's only 4 of us from start to finish.
Say something clever here...

No, I'm too lazy. Imagine it yourself.

There are many pre-fab homes on the market...a stick built home is built from scratch on a building site.

A lot of commercial buildings use metal framing!

I think most commercial buildings have concrete exteriors and metal framed interior walls.

What I meant by wood framed was the entire house including exterior walls framed in wood, covered in that same stuff you used to block off your crawlspace, then insulation and some kind of exterior paneling over that.

One new trend in commercial mid rise residential apartment buildings, is to build the ground floor of poured concrete, then build five or six floors above it all in wood.

Read an article that somewhere, possibly Britain, they are either planning to build, or are in the process of building or have already built, the first all wood framed high rise.

Couldn't get me to set foot in it.

When we built our Tampa home, it was a combination of wood frame and cinder block. All joists and supporting beams were doubled, then the exterior was stucco that resembled thick cake frosting, river rock, and more wood.
House stayed nice and cool and I always wanted to believe it was hurricane-proof.

Watched a home building show about log "cabins".  Mansions is more like it.  One guy split all the exterior logs of his house down the middle so he could add insulation between the log halves.

These homes were beautiful, but almost bordered on garish.

Best houses I've seen have either been built in caves or are subterranean.

Do a Google search of "wood high rise construction". It has caught on faster than I thought. They are building a 14 story wooden high rise in Portland Oregon and there's a Newsweek article titled "Wooden Buildings Strong as Steel".

Check out the Images page, too. Amazing.
