Because if they're still little, they either can't walk for that long, OR they have a tendency to bolt.

Would you rather have toddlers running unencumbered through Toys R Us, or have them strapped down?

I said gigangtic stoller, meaning I understand they get tired but there's no need for a huge one with space for a diaper bag and what not if they're walking and out of diapers. Umbrella strollers are compact and perfect for that situation. And the ones strapped down usually don't want to be strapped down, resulting in a crying, screaming child. It's lose lose really Tongue

Oh, excuse me.  You said gigangtic.

Then again, they could be pushing shopping cart, provided by the store.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not so...

isn't the whole point of this thread about gigantic strollers? I was just voicing my opinion about them. Plenty of people do use the shopping carts as a means of moving their kids around, whether they ride in the top (where they're supposed to be), or in the cart itself or hanging on the side (where they are not supposed to be).

Hell back in the 70s my mom pushed me around the city in one of those thin collapsible strollers and I even slid out the back on to the street when she tipped it to get back on to the sidewalk and I'm ok :::twitch twitch::: ;)

Seriously though, I've got a friend with 3 tiny kids under the age of 3 and she's got different strollers for different times (thanx to craigslist, thrift stores etc.).  She drives the big monstrosity when she's out at the park or amusement park, walking outdoors etc., a narrow one for indoor events and a "crappy" one for airline travel in case they do something to destroy the thing.  Whenever she goes grocery shopping the two bigger kids fit in the front of the grocery cart (she goes to costco) and she carries the baby in one of those papoose things.  Sometimes she even leaves the kids behind with daddy (a novel concept;) so she doesn't have to be bogged down by babies and their stuff so it is entirely possible to move around with children without inconveniencing the planet with obnoxiously oversized baby crap:)
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

I never could understand the people who have to have "designer" everything for their kid.

Especially when it comes to clothes. Next time you're at the mall, check out the Baby Gap or the baby/toddler section at Macy's or Nordstroms.

$50 for a shirt? Because its Ralph Lauren? I always laugh because all babies puke, p*ss and sh*t....eventually on that nice $50 shirt you bought...that is now a dust rag!

I can understand wanting a nice carseat, because it's a safety thing.

We had a decent stroller for my kids...not one of those monster ones either. I really hate when parents use those things as carts and let their little darlings wander along behind them. Or they leave their strollers sitting in the aisle-ways and give you the Evil Eye if you even try to move it an inch.

Never a 'slave for fashion'.

Not us.

Yea, we raised five.

Always had ONE SINGLE SEAT CHEAP stroller - for those that could not walk.

Once the spermicules COULD walk, they DID - and continued to do so, forevermore.

Granted, for them, it probably seemed somewhat like joining the 'French Foreign Legion' at times, but, well...it made 'em tough...and I'm thinkin' they still love us...

(however, none of them have sent us any money, lately...so I dunno...)

That's what my parents did, too. Somehow, it didn't seem so bad, and actually gave me the ability to keep myself in pretty good shape.

Cool!
Personally believe more should do it.

Sheesh, I had a kiddie backpack (a real backpack, none of the rolling luggage crap*) for that stuff!  Mom would only carry it herself if we were shopping and I'd bought some stuff that made it too heavy.

* That's another rant--who came up with the idea of kiddie rollaboards when they haven't mastered their own two feet yet?

I went to the LA County Fair early this month and there were SO many of them clogging the walkway that it caused a major traffic jam.

I'm a total hypocrite, though, as I had one for each of my kids. Now, I'm on my way to becoming a crochety old lady. "GET OFF MY LAWN!"

When I was younger, my parents had the cheap simple ones. They done just right. When I was dating an ex GF, and she was pregnant (we had a miscarriage). We bought a simple cheap one. Forget about buying those SUV size ones.

The last time I rode the bus, I saw a pair of toddlers garbed head to toe in some hip-hop "urban life" clothing label.  As if the stuff isn't hideous enough on adults...
