What is a "normal" or common food that most everybody has tried that you never have? I'm not talking about anything weird like sea urchins or something. For example, I know someone who has never had a Big Mac and someone else who has never tried most fruits (strawberries, pears, grapes).
For me, I have never had a cheesesteak sandwich or Spam.

I've never had a Big Mac either, nor a QP with cheese .. both because they have American cheese on them which I can't stand.

Not that I am endorsing Big Macs or McDonalds's food in general, but I am fairly certain you can order a Big Mac without cheese. My mom once ordered the Eggs Benedict at this really nice restaurant without the eggs! (She hates eggs). But I found that to be kind of weird.

^^ To be honest, even as a little kid I didn't care at all for their burgers, so after I passed the Happy Meal stage I would usually just get the McNuggets when we went there.

Actually, when I worked there (1978 - 81) it was real American cheese. Actually, damn good cheese. We used to make grilled cheese sandwiches with it. I would imagine they still use the same cheese but who knows?

You should They are absolutely delicious, and can get very messy too If you opt to microwave the marshmallow, only do it for about 3 seconds, otherwise you'll have Mr. Stay Puft in your microwave before you know it. I found that out the hard way, and after only about a cautious 10 second nuke - that sucker expanded like a balloon. They're much better on S'mores when roasted, though. |

Up until this past Christmas I never had a devilled (devil's?) egg either. But that's a long story which included a nun, egg salad and a crying jag through recess. Oh and I'llnever have another one either.
But the s'mores - there's no excuse for that. I love graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallow. And I'm 51 so it's high time I eat one!

I've also never had coleslaw. Just the sight and smell of it makes me nauseous.

I've never had chicken nuggets, etc. I do not like the idea of various chicken parts ground up into some kind of food product.

One thing I never tried before was pulled pork, I've tried it at Bella's sub shop and boy was it DELICIOUS! I've tried it on Wednesday afternoon. I was apprehensive about it, I'm glad it turned out well.

I've never had a cup of coffee. I had a sip in 1976, and didn't like it. And then, a few years ago, I had another sip. Still didn't like it.
Oddly, I love the smell of it.
Never had a Big Mac or a Whopper or an ice cream sundae or a banana split, either.

Re: the coffee, you probably sipped it black. If that was the case, no wonder you didn't like it. Put just the right amount of cream & sugar or that flavored creamer they sell nowadays & I think you'd become a convert pretty quickly. Re: the other stuff... that's just weird!!! |

I've never had kidney bean salad.
Or that shaved carrots with raisins thing you see here & there. Or green bean casserole. Never had chicken liver or gizzards, either. Or clam chowder. (after seeing a pile of barfed up clam chowder in the street across from my house as a young kid I just never could bring myself to try it) I'VE ALSO NEVER HAD SUSHI!!!! |

Yes, the first time was espresso. The second time was regular black coffee.
But I don't think that cream and sugar would matter. I dislike coffee ice cream and other coffee-flavored desserts. And mocha's no different.
As far as the other things---I've always liked burgers and ice cream, but not with all that other stuff on it or in it. I like a lot of things more basic. When I've ordered pizza, it's always been plain---or sometimes half of it with sausage. I just don't like a lot of extra stuff on it.

I've tried it once because of peer pressure. That was enough. I'm still owed a free sushi meal from the owner of a sushi bar in SF from 1983 or so, because of a favor I did for him. I wonder if he'd remember me.
