Another '2-for-1' special! Just an update to my 'searching for a used Subaru' - the dealer has called me back and advised he has 're-priced the car to your advantage! Are you interested?!". "Sure - email me the details!", at which point I asked him if he recalled with whom he was speaking (<-original post). Nothing was ever emailed to me. If any of our members car shop in or around Washington, DC - PM me and I'll provide this dealer's name and advise against any contact with them. ~~~~~~
...you just have to read the words, look at the pictures, and use your imagination - that's all!I can think of so many opportunities where this may pose a free solution: Population control African pirate control are a few examples. Had I not seen '120 Days', I would have ignorantly called out Trump on his 'Wall' and simply suggested a 'Moat'...

Look at the other photos and read the article...I believe that has a lot to do with why they closed.

It's bad enough that the so-called "adults" go on those rickety things, but there were little kids out there with them.

*I* think they should re-open the park for FREE and use the same floats - maybe toss in a few more like them, maybe some leaky paddle boats for the children.

From today's Cape Cod Times:
WEST YARMOUTH - Two men drove into Swan Pond early Friday morning after following GPS instructions to get to Route 28, according to a Yarmouth fire official.
“They must have been driving pretty fast,” Yarmouth fire Capt. Thomas Lundquist said. “They were 120 feet out from the shore.” Rescuers treated the men for mild hypothermia after they opened the doors of the Jeep Cherokee, stepped into four feet of water and waded back to shore. Neither of them was brought to the hospital, Lundquist said. Firefighters got the call about the crash at 1:35 a.m., after the Jeep traveled from Winslow Gray Road to Lake Road, which ends at Swan Pond, Lundquist said. Route 28 is across the pond. The two men, in their early 20s, told rescuers their GPS told them to take Lake Road to get to Route 28. Two firefighters donned survival suits and went into the lake to hook the Jeep to a tow truck, Lundquist said. The tow company pulled it out of the water, he said. It's summer...it was 1:30 in the morning...and hey, they were just following the GPS! |

He fired 4 times and missed. Either a very bad shot, or very lucky...

There certainly would be charges, eh? What kind of defense would you present against the involvement of drugs & alcohol? Is there a 'plain & straight stupidity' defense?

Alley told police officers he was driving from Hyannis to his passenger’s family summer home in West Dennis, according to a statement from police. “He stated (he) was using his Garmin GPS since he is from Amesbury and unfamiliar with the area,” according to the statement. “Alley stated the GPS told him to continue going straight, taking him right into the pond at the end of Lake Road.” We love our tourists, but "My Garmin TOLD me to!" is a lousy excuse for driving straight into a pond. "Recalculating!!" I'm suspecting these two young gentlemen sobered up pretty fast when they went into that cold water. |

Well, in the driver's defense, according to the article the firefighters got the call around 1:30 am.
If nothing else, it was dark out at that time. Possibly foggy or misty. From the Google Maps Street View image below of where it happened, I see there are no street lights or warning signs up. Add to that being unfamiliar with the area, I can see how it could happen. Your honor, the defense rests its case. (Yes, I know I'm spoiling all the fun. Sorry... ) |

^^ My brother counsel makes a good point, Your Honor! Warning signs and admonitions against Driving Way Too Fast In the Dark While Blotto are not, in fact, posted in the immediate area. However, we may humbly suggest that, by the time our intrepid young men realized, perhaps, by the time that they were three or four feet into the water, that the Very Large Puddle they wished to splash through at excessive speed was, in fact, a POND, notwithstanding the encouragement of many lousy TV commercials exhorting them to engage in just such behavior. And that Livin' Like a Renegade is not, in fact, a good way to drive at 1:30 a.m. in a dark, residential area, and that such signage, had it existed, would have had no effect upon the behavior of these gentlemen, as they would not have seen it.
To be fair, I did just check the updated story and the guy was cited, not for driving into the pond but for operating with a revoked license! So, perhaps, he had many such madcap adventures in the recent past!

I hear WAY too many stories of people driving into...
Pools Rivers Lakes Streams Just because they put too much faith in their onboard navigation or Garmin. I have a Garmin, haven't used it in years but then again we haven't traveled in years. The idea that all of this technology should take the place of common sense is absurd and we see examples of it everyday. |
