Anyone seen this yet?

I think it's called "State of Anonymity". Whatever it's called, the thing about it that's noteworthy is that it uses the original theme music from "Cheers".

Talk about sinking to new depths of shameless corporate grovelling & phony-baloney sappiness...

YUCK!!!!!

And they didn't even need to write one single word of dialogue, or one word of song lyric. They didn't even have to bother with hiring a new vocalist or musicians. They just used the old TV show theme music exactly as it was recorded for the show.

So, not only are they a bunch of pandering phonies, they're lazy-ass cheapskates as well.

Do they think anyone really believes, even on a subliminal level, that when you call a State Farm claims office, "everybody knows your name & they're always glad you came"?

Puh-LEASE!!!!

Just one more fond memory of our cultural past, raped & exploited for some stupid, lame-ass commercial.

I'd like to find out the name of the ad agency responsible for this slop & send them a nice F.U. email.

Dickwads.

UnhappyYuppers.
Saw that rip-off while I was sliding into the worst part of the illness, the other day.
You know how it is as you get *really* ill - sometimes things seem but a figment of the delirium you find yourself sliding into. THAT is when I saw the commercial. Haven't seen it since, so I was convinced it never really happened - especially now that I am starting to feel better.

I betcha there are several thousand FORMER State Farm homeowner's policy holders here in Fla. who, after paying their premiums on time for years & never filing a claim, were suddenly dumped by them because they deemed it more profitable, who might not fall for that smarmy, gimmicky bullsh*t.

I've had State Farm for over 40 years and a only two different local agents all of those years.  I don't think I'm in the minority when it comes to satisfied customers.

I don't think I will ever understand SF's reasoning for doing that. Paying premiums. Not filing claims. I think that would be the perfect client for any insurance company. Maybe SF's bean counters need a refresher course in 2nd grade math! Years ago I went to my agent's office to conduct business. My agent was the only one who knew my name. If I were filing a claim I seriously doubt anyone was glad I came. Now all business is conducted by telephone or internet. This commercial is at least 15 years late!

That's very nice, Hooty.

Downright heartwarming.

Still doesn't mean that they wouldn't drop you flat on your ass if they felt it would be more profitable.

Any thoughts on the commercial, btw?

This seems no different to me than buying old rock songs for new ads, or even paying on the cheap for new indie music. Isn't this what most companies do these days?

Yes it is & it sucks everytime they do it.

At least with the classic stuff.

Nobody cares about the new indie stuff because it's all just commercial crap anyway.

But the thing about THIS particular ad, is the phony, ooey-gooey, huggy, lovey tone of it.

An insurance company like State Farm doesn't give a rat's ass about knowing your name or being glad you came.

They want your money & they don't like claims.

The song was great as a TV show theme, but it's nothing more than a cheap, desperate gimmick as a commercial ploy to attract more customers.

Such a stupid commercial.  I still can't figure out why the hell State Farm feels the need to fling 300 commercials a week at the public.  For a business that hates paying out to customers, they have ad money flowing out their b-holes.  Maybe they could actually lower the effing premiums for their customers if they spend less money on these sh*tty adverts.

Yep.  Just saw it.  Again.  They used this theme song before.  In fact, we had a thread on it a year or so ago.

I feel your pain Jimbo. Our homeowners went from about 500 a year to over 900 a year in only 5 years . Then! We were randomly chosen for a roof inspection. I am getting angry with them by this time and I sent the inspector away.  They promptly told us, they could no longer provide our home policy. Within a few weeks I was pleased to tell State Farm to remove all coverage of 5 vehicles. Saving money on more coverage with Am Fam, And much less annoying ads also.

Same thing happened to my mom, more or less.

I did some shopping around for her & hooked her up with her local Florida Farm Bureau agent.

They wrote her a policy that cost her several hundred dollars a year less than she was paying SF.

SF & Allstate are money grubbing scum.

Ok Tiz, It is the original roof. The home was built in 94. Godammit I know we may need a roof soon  But I really don't need State Farm telling me so.

Was just trying to understand, I've never heard of an insurance company sending inspectors out for roof inspection.

Mine did. I added my son to my auto insurance in September this year and bundled it with my homeowner's policy. They sent out an inspector who didn't like the condition of my roof and sent me a cancellation notice.

They didn't realize that my local, independent agent had taken pictures of the house in June when I'd first gotten my policy (just a thing he does), and my roof looked fabulous then ... in between the local agent photos and the policy inspection was a freak storm called a "derecho," aka "act of god" and sufficient grounds for a claim. They reinstated me.

Local, independent agents FTW! (even if the policy is with a national company, having a local guy on the ground who's got your back is worth the time it takes to go in and talk to them rather than signing up online)

Hell, I had my homeowner's insurance demand I replace a stretch of wood fence between my house and my neighbor's.  Granted, it's not in the best of shape, but it's been this way since I moved in 10 years ago, and it's withstood countless 50-60mph storms without me ever having  even considered filing a claim on it.  I'm fine with it, and my neighbor's fine with it.  He and I decided long ago to deal with it when it falls down.
