As you all know, next month will mark the 100th Anniversary of this Disaster. I noticed the movie A Night to Remember will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray this week, and I'm sure that any movie that even HINTS of this disaster will either be released on Home Video, or will be shown on all the TV channels. |

Any interest I might've had in 100th anniversary Titanic shows was killed by the movie Titanic. And I didn't even see the movie.

They will find a way to milk it for all it's worth & suck every last nickel of profit out of it that they can, all the while pretending to be showing reverence & respect for all those who lost their lives.

I'd consider watching a comedy about the Titanic. Something a la "Airplane". Maybe the love interest could involve Borat and Carol Channing. Or Susan Boyle and Justin Bieber. Or Hannah Montana and Billy Ray Cyrus. Or Chaz Bono and Carrot Top. And there'd have to be a good dance scene featuring Ann Margret.

^^^^ Who'd play the in the nude painting scene? Shelly Winters
How come a more tragic and significant event doesn't get near the coverage as a movie about a couple committing adultery on board? Govt. cover ups, whitewashing, and a need for a scapegoat. Can anyone remember the name of the movie? Being sarcastic, I know the name.

Tiz! You read my mind! Shelley Winters is who I immediately thought of for the affair with Borat. But then I looked it up, and discovered that she's dead, so I changed it to Carol Channing.

Lucky you. If you do manage to break down and see it, just watch the first and last 10 minutes (the scenes on the salvage boat.) Those were the best parts.
They'll have to. Won't be much opportunity to whore their stuff again until the 125th/150th/175th/200th anniversaries....

Get Mel Brooks to write & produce it.
If he's not too old, that is...
Make it something along the lines of History of the World Part I.
Have a scene or two kinda like this one....

Back in the 90s, I had a Pipe Dream of owning a Las Vegas Casino. For my theme I chose the Titanic. It would have consisted of a 40 Story tall "Leaning Tower"shaped like the doomed Liner. In front of this would have been an "Iceberg" that would have housed a Water Park. Then a little something called 9/11 occured, and I decided that "Glorifying" a Disaster was not in good taste, and I canned this idea.

Do the theme parks in Florida still have any disaster themes? I remember one that simulated an earthquake.

That was Universal Studios & no, they canned that one years ago (2007).
They also got rid of the King Kong ride (Kongfrontation) & the Jaws ride too. They are in the process right now of putting in something new where Jaws used to be.

And then of course, there was that whole "Where am I gonna get the 300 - 400 million dollars from?" problem that never quite resolved itself....

Good Lord, $900. An optional sisal rope scratch post is available, including an option for dyed sisal.
For $900 bucks, I'd think that would come standard.

You could have one custom made for less than that. I used to be employed in the design of custom trade show & museum exhibits & retail product displays. The guys who worked in our shop were top notch cabinet makers & craftsmen, highly skilled working in wood, plexiglass, various laminates, fabric coverings, lighting & graphics applications.
They could build just about anything you could design & our head designer used to design some wild looking stuff.
I can think of about a half a dozen of them who could've reproduced that ship almost to a tee.

Kate Winslet said she was taking her tween age children to see the movie.
I wonder how they are going to handle seeing there mom in the painting scene?

I hope that they will be holding their noses and making fun of her acting throughout the whole movie....

My Husband's cousin ( and best man at his Grandfather's wedding) was a Titanic survivor. Paul has written a cool article about Algernon's rescue, I was thinking of posting it.

She could send them out for popcorn and then "misplace" their 3D glasses.

I hate to be the wet blanket about that, but I hate most dark comedy about real-life stuff, and not for the obvious reason - that it's touchy. My reason is that there's so g-d- much of it. I think I started hating most real-life dark comedy when I heard my tenth or so Chappaquiddik joke, and who knows how early that was. (I don't know if I spelled that name correctly, because obviously I won't bother looking it up.)
