I don't know if he was that, but Simon was the one with all the talent. He played guitar (quite well, too), wrote the songs and could sing. All Garfunkel did was sing in a high pitched voice. |

I prefer Simon's solo work, myself.
He wrote and performed a lot of great songs after the split. Some of his best, I think. Plus he still did the old S&G songs in concert since they were all his anyway. Here's a pretty entertaining interview with Dick Cavett done while he was in the middle of writing "Still Crazy After All These Years".... You can really see how good of a guitar player and how musically knowledgeable he is. Really good insight into the process that goes into composing a song, too. |
