It was announced today by The Discovery Channel that American Chopper, one of its longest running (Perhaps THE longest-running) "Reality" Series has been Cancelled.

I'm sure everyone knows my opinion about these kinds of series so I won't say anything further, but for the rest of you, feel free to put your two cents worth in!

No, they'll probably put a show with a gay children's beauty pageant with the daughters of pawn shop owners from New Jersey.

ConfusedLOLWow!
As disturbed as that seems, it would probably be a hit show.
That would be one I would have to try and watch the first five minutes of, *one* time, just for the 'dumbing-down' effect.
I did this entirely by accident and watched the opening of an episode of 'Honey Boo Boo', which put me in such a state of shock and mental paralysis that I lost track of time. Think it took almost 5 minutes (that is all I saw) to re-learn how to use a remote control, maybe half a day to re-wire my brain, quit drooling, un-learn "Y'all", and ensure I could safely go back out into public.
~~~
'American Chopper' chopped, eh? Seem to remember a show named that - never saw it.
I was really cheering, I thought that was the one with Jesse "Scumbag" James--too bad!
Not too long ago, I saw on my Comcast guide, a show called "Jesse James Blacksmith".  Seeing as how it was on the History Channel, I figured it had something to do with the wild west outlaw.  I guess it did, just not the one I was expecting.
About damn time, all that show ended up in the end was swearing and arguments. Now Discovery Channel cancel the rest of your "reality" shows (Mythbusters excluded) and show some entertaining yet educational programming.
I know it's zip to nil chances in happening, but one can dream right? Smile
I can't believe there is enough TV audience to keep that show afloat.
As for American Chopper, I remember watching a couple episodes in it's first season. They introduced Censoreddrama with Dad vs.CensoredSon. Actually, I Censored think they Censoredused every Censored curse word in the Censored English Dictionary.
They'll probably find another dysfunctional, loud-mouthed, inarticulate, overweight moronic family from some ratsh*t podunk town we've never heard of(that we'll probably never go to). They'll probably own a Heavy-Duty Dodge Ram the size of New Zealand and wrestle around in junkyards for a living while scaping roadkill of the highway for dinner that night or something.
No surprise, too many other reality shows stole their act.  We've got a million other shows with a bunch of knuckledragging meatheads yelling at each other and throwing tantrums like a bunch of chafing 2 year olds. Who would have thought bikers, oil field roughnecks, hot rod mechanics, and pawn shop owners piss and moan like runway models? I wouldn't be surprised if one of them prima donnas held up the show refusing to leave his trailer because he thought his boots made him look fat.
That's why I'd rather watch reality shows like Parking Wars than that stuff.  At least in Parking Wars, there's no hissyfits among the parking enforcers, and no ongoing interpersonal struggles and over-the-top personalities for me to get wrapped up in (as if I would).  Same with Jail.
Plus, the drama in shows like American Chopper seems strongly encouraged, if not downright scripted.  I'm sure the cast is more than willing to play right into that, and fabricate dramas as they go along.
You've summed up about 90% of the reality shows of the last 5 years. Bonus points for calling it "American ___" and additional points if the cast photo features someone with his or her arms crossed (aka the "Badass Pose").
TV isn't even trying to hide the fact that its run out of ideas...
